Welcome to "A Light In The Day!" Each week for three weeks, an episode featuring a different devotional will surround an overall theme that will wrap up on the third week.

EP. 3 - Firm

Last week was a more personal devotional in the WHY WORRY Series. From richness to forward, we now have to decide on whether or not we will stand firm in the truths learned throughout the series.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;" Proverbs3:5NIV

"Say to him, 'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart" Isaiah7:4NIV

"If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.'" Isaiah7:9NIV

"If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." Hit me like a ton of bricks, a fragment from Isaiah 7:9. As I am currently digging deeper into a personal study of certain books in the Bible, Isaiah has been the most verbal and overall most challenging yet. Whether it be the small fragments like the one above, or an entire verse/chapter; it's a profound book in the Word. But it's the one line that hit me; conviction. And when they hit, they hit HARD. The one from Isaiah 7:9 conjures up a question of priority of where you place your trust in, God or the world? That's for you to answer.Adding to that question, if we don't stand firm, does that mean we will stumble? Always. It's just if we do, do we stay down and worry about if we'll get knocked down again, or do we trust and submit standing firm in His truths; the richness and unseen?

"He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good." Isaiah7:15ESV

We all know who He is.

One thing that indefinitely stood out was the ending of the verse. "Refuse the evil and choose the good."

Could a line not be more poignant during a time such as this; it's quite simple. Refuse whatever bears hatred, malice, rage, anger, selfishness, lust, envy, oppression, etc. Choose what enthralls love, Grace, mercy, forgiveness, selflessness, justice, kindness, etc. I know it can be tough to figure out what's right and wrong, and it's worse when we confused our thoughts with what we think is God's voice. But, before you decide, ask yourself, "Will this bring glory to God? Will whatever I'm about to do or say represent the Kingdom?" A brother in Christ brought forth this reminder to me, and it's been on my heart and actions since; the question before I choose if I'm glorifying the Father in what I am about to do.

So, when the time comes in whatever places either options in front of you, including whether or not to worry, ask yourself, "Will THIS glorify the Father?"

Well, friends, we have come to the wrap up of the first series of "A Light In The Day." And for the times we're living in, worrying is so easy to fall into; fear is easily adaptable. As mentioned before, don't let something that is so easily adaptable become the hardest thing to depart from. Now is the time in which I can only hope and pray that maybe you found a light in your darkness from reading this series.

Father, I come to You. While I can only hope and pray that these devotions helped someone, I pray that they see somewhat of light in their darkness as they read this. That maybe they choose to submit and surrender all that brings them from You to You. I pray they know that ways are being made, even they can't see it that they trust in Your truths. I pray they stand firm in these truths of Your richness and faithfulness. Knowing You are working things out for their good, and Your glory.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
