To My Best Friends As I Go Off To College, I Can't Thank You Enough
Madison Burkhalter

Dear best friends,

10 years and counting this friendship has been going strong. Who knew that the swim team would be the first thing to bring us all together? Well, I sure am glad it did, because it gave me you two. The strongest, kindest, most loving people I have in my life...my best friends. Thank you for always being there for me at all times of the day and through the ups and the downs. You are the greatest humans on the planet and the sisters I never had. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me.

From the late night adventures to the relaxed days inside, there is never a dull moment when we are together. Jamming in the car is always better with you two. I can surely say that being a year apart in school most definitely has its advantages and disadvantages. I am glad that the world has given me two people that I know I can always count on. We have all been through so much together, and I know that there is more to come.

In less than a month I will have a tear-filled goodbye as I move 5 hours away to a new state and a new place. I know that some friendships won't survive this time away, but I know ours is a friendship for a lifetime. This bond will never break and you are the people who have been and will always be there for me. Thank you both for loving me for who I am, supporting my decisions and being my number one fans. Leaving you two will be one of the hardest things I will have to do, but I cannot wait to see what is ahead for you guys and to see you rock your senior year.

So, to my partners in crime, I love you both so much. Thank you for the support of a lifetime. It won't be the same not being around the corner from both of you. I can't wait to see where our lives take us and the people and adults we become when we can tell our kids we have been friends forever. The memories will last forever, and we will always be making more because we are better together.

Thank you for being the best friends in my life. Girl gang forever.

Love always,

Your extremely thankful bestie

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
