A Letter To College Students During The Worst Time Of Year.

The time following midterms has to be one of the most stressful periods of college for every student. You haven't been on break for months, finals are slowly approaching along with Thanksgiving break. You schedule is packed, you're stressed out, tired, and probably contemplating dropping out like the rest of us. I am writing this to try to help you relieve some of that underlying stress.

You can only do as much as you can physically and mentally handle. Whether you are just a student or you work a job as well, this time of year is completely exhausting. I want you to take a moment to yourself, and say the words "I am going to get through this".

Because the thing is, you WILL get through this time. It will be hard, and break seems so far away, but it will come. This is the time where you start to make a plan for the upcoming weeks, and stay on track.

Some advice that I have is to write out a physical plan for your schedule. Make it a list, a calendar, a memo on your computer, anything that you can check easily. Write out the dates you have things due, the times that you are working, and fill in everything in between.

Any time where you don't have something filled in, take for yourself. Watch your favorite show, grab a coffee, nap, read a book, anything not work or school related. Even if it is just five minutes out of your day, it will help your mental stability so much more than trying to psh through without a break.

Another important thing is that if you are actively talking to the people around you. Whether it be a friend, teacher, or parent, if you are stressed or feeling depressed reach out to someone. Create a support system for yourself during these times to help build a positive mentality. Which I know is hard to do for some people, so if you are scared to reach out just know that you are never alone, and someone is always willing to hear you out and talk to you.

To my fellow college students, you will get through this. Winter break will come and you will be relieved of all this stress you are feeling now. I believe in you, you got this!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
