9 Short Words Of Wisdom To Help You Get Through Your Sophomore Year

1) Just breathe.

Your sophomore year of college is like the awkward stage of middle school we all went through. You're growing up, and you're supposed to have it all together, but in reality...you don't and that's okay! You may have a million things on your plate and you may not know what exactly you want to do with your life five years down the line, but take a step back and take it all in. Everything will eventually work itself out in the end.

2) Patience is a virtue.

You may not get that internship you've been dreaming of right away, and you may not be recognized for all the hard work you've been doing behind the scenes, but patience is key. Your hard work is eventually going to be recognized and something better is destined to be on the way, trust me.

3) Keep your priorities in check.

We're all in college for the same reason, to further our education. Of course there can be many distractions along the way, including different clubs and organizations, but remember the reason why you're here. School should become one of your main priorities, because without your education, you wouldn't have any of the other extra-curriculars that make your college experience so special!

4) Stay hungry.

I'm not talking about staying hungry for that 2 A.M. pizza you're always craving, but I'm talking about being ambitious. Stay hungry for that goal you've always been dreaming of and keep striving for it. If you want to be a doctor, GO FOR IT! Don't give up because obstacles get in the way, maybe you need to just take the scenic route.

5) "Dreams don't work unless you do."

With that being said, you can't just expect everything to be handed to you. You can't just hope and pray on a miracle for you to ace your exams, you have to work hard for it. Your hard work will pay off in the end!

6) Don't forget to have fun.

What's college life without having fun? Make sure to go out and adventure! Meet new people, try new things, enjoy yourself. Don't take life too seriously, if you can't laugh at yourself and your mistakes then you'll have no one to laugh with!

7) Don't over complicate things.

If you miss somebody, get in contact with them! Feeling overwhelmed, ask for help! Can't make a decision, flip a coin, because in that moment you will find the answer. In life we always seem to over complicate everything that we do, but most of the times our answers are ever so simple.

8) Enjoy life.

Sometimes, I think we forget to enjoy the little things. After the little moments have passed, we soon begin to recognize that those were the big moments. Enjoy those silent moments in the morning that you have to yourself before anyone else is awake, enjoy the sunrise or sunset, enjoy car rides in the middle of nowhere, or enjoy the first snowfall of winter. When you begin living in those moments, that's when you will truly enjoy the beauty in life.

9) Be grateful in everything you do.

You may not realize it, but you are privileged. You are lucky enough right now, at this moment to be reading this. You have access to a computer, phone, or some type of electronic device, therefore you are fortunate. Sometimes I think we take what we have for granted, we seem to believe that everyone has it better than us, but, in reality, we are so blessed. We should be grateful daily for everything that we have, and everything that we do. Remember to always work hard, but stay humble.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
