Every town has their secret inside jokes and special places whom only the people that grew up there would truly understand. These moments and places can't be forgotten because it is simply now a part of the person and how they were raised. Here is a little inside scoop on some ways you know that you are from the small town of Hanover, Massachusetts.

1. Center/Sylvester vs. Cedar

There will always be a rivalry between the different elementary schools. Whether you went to Center/Sylvester or Cedar School… Although we combined in Middle School, you will always stick up for your side and say it was better and more fun.

vs.

2. “The Falls” and “The Res”

Both sides of the town also have their special spot to hang out with friends, (Luddam's Ford and the Reservoir), but if you’re from Hanover you know them by these names. We've all had some good memories at these places.

3. Westies

You know it’s a half day when all of the middle school kids are on their way here. Oh and let’s not forget Westies' most prized item: Buffalo Chicken Calzone. You can’t say you’ve never had West Hanover Pizza when you are from Hanover or say that you don’t crave it when you’re away.

4. Bonfires

Hanover Day is a great day for our town. But we will never get over the removal of the Hanover Bonfire. This was the most fun event I attended. I will always be amazed of how the reflection of the bonfire in Center school's windows made it look like the school was on fire. And yes, we are still upset.

5. Wooden Playground

This is for everyone who remembers the infamous wooden playground outside of Sylvester School. Will never stop missing all of the fun adventures and the cool swing-set made out of huge tires. I wouldn’t trade those wood chips in my sneakers for anything.

6. Mazzocco’s Orthodontist

I think 99.9% of Hanover’s teens got their wonderful braces experience from the one and only Mazzocco's Orthodontist. Thank you for our awkward years of brace face teenhood, and thank you more for the wonderful smile afterward. Oh yes- and for letting us feel cool by signing your walls when we got our braces off. That was truly our motivation to get them off.

7. Yellow Man

Hanover civilians are lucky to have this dude around - we all love yellow man and the joy he brings to this town. Who else would be such a big collector of random items, and have such a unique house like his off of route 53?!

8. Marylou's

You’re willing to drive out of your way to get Marylou's before school every day- It’s a necessity. Not to mention we hold the spot of the very first Marylou's to ever open.

9. We Have A Movie Theatre, Mall, And Bowling Alley

We might be a small town, but let’s not forget we hold the location of the local movie theatre, mall, and bowling alley. And you can’t say some of your first awkward first dates in middle school weren’t at one of these three places.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
