Valentine's Day is a historical event that celebrates Saint Valentine illegally marrying couples when the Catholic church outlawed marriage. But today's meaning of the holiday is one where couples are given a reason to act extremely romantic and give each other gifts or for secret admirers to express their love. This gift giving holiday sparks the card, flower, chocolate, teddy bear, jewelry, and restaurant industries. Giving a gift that has the correct meaning can be difficult. You do not want it to seem too small yet too large and you want it to accurately reflect how you feel, but also be something your bae will enjoy. These gift/date ideas will be sure to make your sweet thang happier than a kitten with a string.
1. Fondue date
What could be more romantic than melted cheese or chocolate? How about staring into each other's eyes and feeding your loved one something delicious? Fondue is a perfect date for new couples and even the married ones.
2. A teddy bear with a movie and wine
Give the gift of a teddy bear because what else would they cuddle with when you are not there? A movie and wine is a nice way to just hang out together for the night.
3. A puppy play date
Not only does everyone look about 100x cuter while holding a puppy, you are also helping give some adorable puppies a little fun time. It is a win-win for everyone involved.
4. A card
Nothing says, "I remembered this important day" more than a card. This is definitely the way to go if your relationship is still not DTR-ed or you two are at the very beginning. Funny and romantic all in one.
5. A visit with flowers
If you and your special someone are not lucky enough to live a reasonable distance from each other for the majority of the year, a surprise visit with flowers is a wonderful present. Great idea for college students!
6. A nice, fancy dinner
What better way to say, "I love you" than showing your boo-thang that you spent a lot of money on them for a lovely dinner. Set the ambiance with a nice bottle of wine and the rest of the night will be as romantic as you make it.
7. "Open When" letters
Sometimes you need to be romantic on more than one occasion, so having letters for your significant other to open up on special occasions is the way to go. For times when they are sad, need something fun to do, or for just a random day, these letters are definitely a way to go.
8. Lush Valentine's Day bath
There is no better way to say I love you than to give the gift of relaxation. Lush has a wonderful line of V-Day products that will make your honey feel like honey. (No one likes to bathe alone so you will get to feel relaxed, too).
9. Popsicle date sticks
A romantic idea is to write down a bunch of date ideas on popsicle sticks and then pick one at random for your date. You could write all of the places you have been to on dates, places you want to go, or things you want to do!
