My friends and I have been joking that summer is so close we can almost taste it. We have been talking about how summer smells, sounds and so on. As I sit here and write this, I only have four days left. I am so excited to be done with finals and to get a break, but I am unsure of what I am going to do with all my free time I'll have since most of my friends will be scattered all over this summer. Below, I have compiled a list of activities to do when you are bored or even if you are not bored.
1. Netflix
"New Girl," "Gossip Girl," "One Tree Hill," "Grey's Anatomy," "Gilmore Girls," "Friends," "How I Met Your Mother," "How to Get Away with Murder," "Scandal" and "Fixer Upper," that's just TV shows. They have some great movies on there as well. Maybe you shouldn't spend your whole break watching Netflix, but a little Netflix binging never hurt anyone.
2. Get a job
It is always nice to have a little money. Summer Jobs can be fun if you find the right one. They also look good for applications and resumes later in life.
3. Road trip
If your friends from school are close enough that you can take a road trip and go see them, Do it!
4. Read
The school year is filled with boring reading that no one really wants to do. Use the summer time to read a book or books that you actually enjoy. Whether it is on a kindle or a nook or its just a hard back book, try to find something that interests you. It is probably not one of the books below.
5. Volunteer
You may think you are helping others, but it will help you more. Find some time to give back to the community.
6. Swim
Swimming and summertime just kind of go together so you should do it. It is always fun and relaxing.
7. Learn something new
You are never to old to learn something new. Whatever it is that you have always wanted to try, try it. Maybe try cooking, sewing, gardening, crafting, writing, painting, or a new sport. Their are many options.
8. Write
You can journal your thoughts for the day or write the next great American novel. Some people like to make all kinds of different lists or a bullet journal. Some people write everyday, while others just write occasionally. All writing is good for you. Get your thoughts out. No one ever has to see it, but I really believe it makes people feel better to put pen to paper.
9. Be spontaneous!
Be adventurous! Try new activities, get out of your comfort zone and most importantly, have fun!
