The concert season is upon us and I am both excited and getting ready to be slightly annoyed and highly uncomfortable. Why? Because I am a little over 5 feet and that means that the world may be my oyster, but most concert venues and festivals are not. Here are a couple things every short concert goer understands all too well.
1. I knew this was going to happen but I am still kind of annoyed
Every person under 6 ft knows all too well that they're probably just going to be stuck staring up or around at a weird angle for a couple hours, and it'll be worth it, but it will also be annoying af when you don't have the distraction of the band.
2. I paid how much for the view of the guy in front of me?
Concerts are expensive and sometimes you get to splurge for the upgraded seats or the VIP, but in those instances that you can't, you will most likely get to stare at some really tall dude's head for the remainder of the show.
3. Ok, this is fine.
BUT sometimes they move slightly!
4. Nope, not fine.
...And then they move back
5. My neck hurts and I still have two more hours to go.
You know how your mom used to warn you to not make weird faces cause your face would be stuck that way? That's a pretty accurate warning when it comes to the weird neck angles we manage at our short stature. How long can one manage to keep their neck at a weird angle until they can no longer move it? I don't know yet and I hope I don't find out anytime soon.
6. Your elbow is in my face
I mean everyone else is in my face too, but your elbow specifically, is too close to my face.
7. Never again
That moment when your feet starting hurting and you're feeling especially claustrophobic so you start to rethink all of your life choices. This is the moment when you start to think about all your life decisions that led you to standing behind a bunch of too tall people. This is usually when you swear off concerts and start thinking about how much you want to be home.
8. Nvm
But then you see the lights change and hear the band start to play and you somehow manage to forget about the awkward neck angle and the really tight quarters you're in and for a couple of minutes, it all makes it worth it.
9. *Buys more concert tickets a week later*
No matter how tired you are or how much money it takes, somehow we always manage to rationalize live music in our lives because it always ends up being worth the inconveniences.
