Things To Thank My Older Sisters For

They'll give to me straight, even if I (momentarily) hate them for it.

Things To Thank My Older Sisters For

Growing up the youngest of two sisters has been...interesting. There will never be anyone else who understands me the way they do, or why I am the way I am. There were times I hated one sister and barely saw the other. There were times all three of us were inseparable. There were times my sisters bonded with each other, and there were times I bonded with each one separately.

Through all the years and memories, there are countless things I'd like to thank my sisters for, but here are a few of my favorites.

1. For Always Having Advice

There are some things you just can't talk about with your parents, or even your friends. An older sister is a blessing to have if you're seeking advice from someone who has been where you are now.

2. For Understanding Your Family

No-one will understand the annoying way mom eats peanut butter, or how dad can get after a long day better than the gals who've been through it all with you.

3. For The Extra Closets & Hammy-downs

Growing up, we all had pretty different styles. But now that we're all older, our styles have synced up as well as our sizes. In fact, I give most my hammy downs to my oldest sister. We share everything, so naturally our closets are shared as well.

4. For Taking Me Driving

This is a shout-out to my oldest sister, who let me drive in the Millard North High School parking lot when I was 11. Dangerous? Absolutely. But it is one of my favorite memories with her.

5. For Buying Me Alcohol

Sorry, mom & dad. What are older siblings for?

6. For Always Being Up For Frozen-Yogurt

Oh its 2 a.m.? No problem. Walmart is always open and is always stocked with our favorites. S/O to Kemps FroYo.

7. For Taking The Blame On My Childhood Shenanigans

Writing your name with a tack on mom's new car? Pretty genius for a 7 year old. Thanks for taking the blame girl. I owe you.

8. For Always Teaching By Example

Sure, we've all messed up along the way. But by helping you through it, or listening to how it effected you, I've learned more than I ever could on my own.

9. For Being My Best Friends

I am so lucky to have such beautiful, smart, funny, compassionate, and hardworking sisters. You guys inspire me daily, and will forever be my deepest and truest friends.

Now-a-days, we all have our own lives and don't get to see each other as much as we'd like. Still, we manage to stay close and keep each other updated on any life events, share the latest drama, and listen in on any venting sessions that need to be had. I know my older sisters would have my back, worse case scenario. Remember, through thick and thin, they have to love me.

Love,

-A

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
