9 Things You Tell Yourself You're Going To Do During UD's Winter Session

If you go to UD, you have a love hate relationship with the one month winter session program. You get to chill out with your friends while talking one or two classes that are said to be easier during this frigid month, while also partying and going out as much as you possibly can. At the same time you can also find yourself to be super bored, your day seems to be the same everyday -- wake up at 11 A.M., eat breakfast (or really lunch at this point), attempt to get to the gym, go to class, and finally Netflix and chill. Since we have so much free time, we tell ourselves this will be the month to get things done, to start (and finish) my New Years Resolutions, here are some of those things you tell yourself your going to do:

1) Go to the gym every day.

You have absolutely nothing better to do, so you tell yourself this will be the month I get in shape, this will be the month I wont come home at 2 in the morning and order a Jimmy Johns sub, or a entire Dominos pizza to myself, this is it!

2) Loose (insert # of lbs.).

Since you've decided to go the gym every day, you put a set number of lbs. you need to loose. After all what is the point of working your a** off at the gym if you don't see a difference on the scale?

3) Study or go to library three times a week.

After all you only are taking one class. For this one month, you've decided to put all your effort and energy into acing this class!

4) Try not to look like a bum in class every day.

You wake up every day 30 minutes before your class, throw your hair up in a pony, put on some sweats and head out the door. You make a pact to yourself to wake up at least an hour before your class once a week so people know that you really are a real person.

5) Eat healthy.

You realize that going to the gym and then eating a pizza immediately after basically cancels out all the hard work you just put in. You decide to eat healthier this month, that means eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch, and some sort of protein for dinner.

6) Take a trip with your friends.

UD is super close to Philly, you and your friends decide your going to take a day or night trip into Philly to break up the relationship you have been having with Netflix and your mattress you've had all week.

7) Bake or cook something new.

You're completely sick of chicken and pasta, you break out the cookbook your mom told you to bring to school, go to the grocery store and finally try (and maybe fail) and making one of those complicated new recipes.

8) Go out every night.

Before winter session starts, you think you're going to have so much free time, obviously you're going to go out every night. But after spending all day under the covers, you realize you should probably only shoot for three times a week.

9) Try not to drive to class everyday.

Most of us bring our cars during winter session, after waking up 15 minutes before your class in the freezing weather, you decide driving is probably your best option.

Winter session is all about commitment, you tell yourself you are going to commit to most of the things on this list, but soon start to realize how lazy the cold weather makes you, making most of these things super hard to accomplish. I hope this winter we can all keep to our pacts and become better versions of ourselves -- of course only for this one month!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
