Commuting to school may seem easy because you are still in the comfort of your own space. That is one upside of staying home for college, and there are many of them, but there are also some down-sides. Here are 9 things, the good and the bad, that only a commuter student would understand.
1. Trying to organize a time to meet up with your classmates for a group project.
You're dreading having to meet up with your group. It is so hard to get everyone together since you might not live anywhere near each other. Also, basically everyone has a job and you cannot figure out a time that is good for everyone.
2. Having your car with you on campus.
You always have a way to get places. Your friends who are away at school might not have that same luxury as you do. It is awesome just get in your car and go.
3. Having a job.
Most of your friends don't have the opportunity to get a job on campus like you do.You're able to go to school and work to earn some extra money.
4. Finding a parking space is close to impossible.
Since almost everyone drives to school, the parking lot is a nightmare.
5. Leaving your house an hour before your class to get there on time.
You can't just hop out of bed and walk a couple minutes to class. You have to wakeup so early and there may also be traffic on your commute to school so you have to allot enough time to get there.
6. Being comfortable in your own home and room.
It's nice to come home from class and escape to your room. You have space to yourself where you can relax and unwind.
7. Driving all the way to school to find out that your only class that day is cancelled.
This will happen more times than not and it's absolutely horrible.
8. Not having to pack up all of your stuff when a semester starts or ends.
All of your belongings are always with you and in place. You never have to deal with packing your stuff and deciding what you need to bring with you to school.
9. Your parents are always there to help you.
Being that you're home all the time you see your parents a lot. They are always there to answer your questions and hangout with you when no one else will.
Sometimes staying home and commuting to school can get tiring, but we wouldn't change a thing!
