It's almost time to go back to school everyone, and even though there are downsides to leaving your home, there is still so much to look forward, too. It's the season to put your alarms back on, get yourself ready every morning, and drink a dangerous amount of coffee for no other reason than the fact that you get to be a college student. Pack your bags, kids, it's time to head back to school and smile bright knowing you can look forward to at least these nine things this semester:

1. Seeing your friends again.

Your time with your friends back home was great, and now you get to see all your new friends again! Not to mention all the friends you're bound to make in your new classes.

2. Staying busy.

Some of us may have worked over break, others maybe haven't, but in college, there is always work to be done, places to be, people to meet. No more slacking, it is time to pass classes and be happy!

3. Being free of parental supervision.

You go from being under your parent's roof to being on your own. Now you get to go out anywhere, buy what you want, and make terrible life decisions that will follow you for the rest of your life. Scary, but fun!

4. Late night possibilities.

Late night talks with your best friends were the best when you were kids, and now you can have it every night in college. And this time most of you can drive, which means the possibilities are endless. Go to Waffle House, a strip club, a tattoo parlor; the road is yours.

5. Having classes you enjoy.

Most of us probably don't enjoy stats or bio, but we do enjoy socialism classes, photography classes, and anything doing with our actual major and minor. New semesters mean new chances to learn new things and find new interests.

6. Getting to go to the gym for free.

You've been gorging on all kinds of junk food and sitting in bed all winter, but it's time to shed our winter bodies and get back to our intense fitness workouts. Plus, the gym is a great way to help relieve your stress.

7. Getting to eat as much as you want.

This contradicts what I said about the gym, but we get to go back to our dining halls and eat at the all you can eat buffets and gorge ourselves on pizza and fries. But nothing beats home-cooked meals.

8. Getting back to your love life.

Part of college is finding people who are just like you and making connections with them. Maybe some of you had lovers back at home, or maybe others never had anyone in high school so college was your one and only hope in finding anyone.

9. Letting your journey as a young independent person continue.

The best part about going to college is that it is new, it's exciting, it is everything you've been building up to since the moment you were in kindergarten. There is so much left to experience and now you can go and make those new memories in a new semester with new classes and new friends.

Hope the new semester goes great for everyone!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
