Whether you're in school for art or it's simply a passionate activity for you, we artists have some things in common when it comes to college.
1. You panic when people ask to see your notes ...
... Because you've doodled in the margins of every page in your notebook. Some of your textbooks even have your infamous doodles in the blank spaces. You can't help it, you pay attention better when you're drawing.
2. When your paintbrushes are all dirty and you’re too lazy to clean them, you will paint with anything
You've tried to paint with old towels, make-up brushes and even fruits and vegetables.
3. You have gotten paint on your clothes -- too often
It's not just clothes that you get messy when you paint, its everything -- hands, hair, face -- nothing stays clean for long.
4. You want desperately for your best friend to let you do this
It may take a year of convincing and some bribery, but you are determined to get her to agree because
this would make for an amazing picture.5. There is paint/pen on all of your blankets
You spend your evenings and rainy afternoons curled up with coffee, blankets and a sketchbook, so pen is bound to stain your sheets eventually. And probably your roommates' as well.
6. You’ve stayed up painting all night
Forget all-nighters before a final exam, you stay up all night to finish a painting. You and the moon are old friends.
7. If you have a desk, it's used for art, not homework
Painting has taken precedent over homework too often in college. Your supplies and in-progress work take up more space than your textbooks do.
8. All the money possible is spent on art supplies
College budgets are rough, but you always find a couple extra dollars for those new paints or that pack of pens in the school bookstore you have been fawning over the whole semester.
9. You gift paintings for every occasion
Money doesn't come easily to college students, so when it comes to birthdays, weddings, or any other occasion that calls for a gift, you paint a picture or craft a present.
