Nine Things Every Book Lover Knows to be True

To some people, there is nothing more comforting and relaxing than cozying up with a great book. Reading is an excellent way to de-stress after a long day and immerse ourselves in an exciting, new world for a while. We grow emotionally attached to characters, and we find ourselves excitedly flipping to each new page, hungry for more. When a beloved book character dies, we mourn them as if they were a real person. When we finish a book or a series we're really passionate about, we experience post-book (or series) depression. If any of these feelings sound familiar, odds are you're a bookworm. Here are 9 feelings every bookworm like yourself knows all too well.

1. You always carry a book with you, wherever you go, hoping you'll have some spare time to read a few pages.

You manage to find time to read pretty much anywhere, even if it's only a page or two. For this reason, you always have a book on hand. Ballet lesson? Bring your book. Maybe you'll be able to read during stretches. Going to an appointment? Bring your book. You'll probably have time to sneak a few pages in while you're in the waiting room.

2. Sometimes you can read for hours on end without even realizing it.

One page turns into 10 pages and 10 pages turns into... the whole book. You can remember at least one occasion when you stayed up late at night, frantically trying to finish a book before you went to sleep.

3. You always have to read the book, before you see the movie.

After watching some of your favorite books be turned into movies, you are well-aware that the books are almost always better. So, when you know a new movie is coming out, you insist on reading the book first, even if this means seeing the movie a little later than you had planned.

4. When your favorite fictional character dies, so does a part of you.

Sobbing into the pages of your favorite novel, you wonder how this author could be so cruel. There were so many other characters that could have died instead! WHY, WHY, WHY.

5. Nothing irritates you more than someone interrupting you while you're reading.

"What book are you reading? What's it about?" Questions like these, though they come with good intentions, annoy you no end.

6. When you meet someone who shares your love of reading, you get extremely excited.

You immediately begin exchanging titles of your most-loved books, freaking out when you find a common interest, and you exchange recommendations. "Well, if you liked this book, you would love..."

7. Walking into a library is like being welcomed home.

You are surrounded by thousands and thousands of possible future reads. It is simultaneously overwhelming and exhilarating.

8. When someone talks about a movie adaptation of a book you really liked, you get angry.

You are almost tempted to spoil the ending for them. But, you resist the urge and patiently wait for them to stop talking about it.

9. You feel an unbearable sadness when you finish a great book, and you wonder what you'll do with your life now that the book is over.

...Maybe you'll just read it again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
