1. Not sleeping normal hours
Basically, you sleep when you can. It may be at night, may be during the day, maybe not at all. It depends on the amount of work you have and how busy your schedule is.
2.Naps
Naps are wonderful, especially when your sleep schedule is messed up. Even a half hour nap here and there is fabulous. They help you get through the day
3. Sleepovers
College is basically one big sleepover all the time. Plus, you can sleep in other people’s room whenever. If you fall asleep, you just have to wake up and walk back to your room. Unless you have a single, every night is technically a sleepover
4. Dining hall food gets old
If you are lucky, you go to a school where they have lots of options, and at first, it doesn’t seem bad. You can eat all different things and for a while and it is good. Or you are unfortunate and your food sucks from the beginning. Either way, after a semester or two, the food gets old. Nothing like a good home cooked meal.
5. Fire alarms
They can happen at any time. Two am or two pm, you never know. When they are in the spring or fall it may not be too cold out, which makes them less awful, but winter is a killer. Especially when they are in the middle of night in the winter. You wake up and grab what you can so you don’t freeze. It is always so great.
6. No Curfew
You don’t have your parents to tell you where and when you can go somewhere and when you have to be back. This can be great because you just leave when you want and go where you want. For some, it isn’t so great, because they overdo their freedom. Let me tell you, yes you can go out and come back whenever, but personally every so often I like sleep so....
7. The laundry room
Maybe you are lucky and you don’t have to pay, if not, save up those quarters. The other thing is to be careful because some people are savages. If you leave your stuff in the washer or dryer you may find your clothes in a pile on the floor. You may try to laundry three times and every time there is no space. You may find random socks that are not yours or lose some. You never know. It is every man for themselves.
8. Netflix
It is basically all you watch. You may find yourself up until 3 am watching or next thing you know you finished the whole show in two weeks.
9. Being Broke
Unless you have a really really good job, you are broke. The school is always charging you for things, books cost so much, and clearly college is just expensive overall. Often times you end up doing an internship but, of course, unpaid. It just seems like you are always paying for something and you have no money, ever.
