9 Struggles of College Life in Charleston

The Holy City does have its flaws...

9 Struggles of College Life in Charleston

College of Charleston is a great school. The peninsula is an awesome place to have your college career. But there are things that the students here are not so fond of.

1) You probably spent Labor Day laboring. While your friends at USC and Clemson enjoyed a nice little vacation you were daydreaming about the beach during class.

2) Living in Charleston is so expensive, whether you're living on or off campus, you are sure to be paying an arm and a leg to live on the peninsula.

3) There are so many good restaurants to try...but not on a college budget. You might be able to splurge on a birthday or a special occasion, but don't get your hopes up.

4) Humidity is not a friend to your hair. No matter how much hair spray you use, the humidity is going to make your hair look however it wants to make it look.

5) Speaking of weather, rain. Rain will come out of nowhere, at any random time and yes, the streets will flood.

6) King Street is so close to campus and it is so hard not to spend all of your money on the sales at Urban Outfitters.

7) It's really hard to walk in your high heels on the cobblestone streets of Charleston, try to keep your dignity...

8) Parking is either hard to find, or very expensive. Stay away from the parking garages because they will clean out your bank account for sure.

9) Sometimes your tap water tastes like the beach. Make sure you invest in a water filter if you want to keep hydrated (you do.)

Despite all of these points, College of Charleston really is such a great place to go to school. The pros definitely outweigh the cons.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
