What every college student experiences when they go home for the summer.

The Stages Of Summer Vacation

Summer brings all types of new experiences and adventures, but there are few things that everyone experiences over the course of their summer vacation.

1. Euphoria

That feeling you have the moment you turn in your final exam and realize that yes, it is finally here. The freedom you've been dreaming about for the past nine months: summer vacation. Even if you have a job or an internship or are taking summer classes none of it compares to the actual school year.

2. Netflix

So what do you do with this new found freedom? Well obviously you spend every second of free time binge watching Netflix. You can finally catch up on all those shows you missed out on during finals.

3. Boredom

After about a week or two the first wave of boredom hits. You've watched all the new shows on Netflix, but you don't quite have the energy or motivation to get out of bed yet.

4. Hang out with Friends

After awhile the boredom finally sparks some motivation to reach out to other human beings and be somewhat social again, so you call up the squad for some Summer adventures.

5. More Netflix

Eventually you will return to the safety and comfort of your bed and suddenly find a whole slew of shows you missed the first time you binged Netflix.

6. Family Time

Once you've run out of those shows then you finally try and get in some quality family time. Of course there's only so much you can take of family time before they start to drive you crazy so this doesn't last very long either.

7. Try Something New

You've run out of shows to watch (again), you've hung out with friends, you've spent more than enough time with family. This is the point when you convince yourself that Summer is the perfect time to learn French, read the stack of books you've been saying you'd read for the past year, learn a new instrument, get a hobby, or decide that you're going to finally get in great shape.

8. Mind-Numbing Boredom

Of course that doesn't last for long and then you're back where you started. Mind. Numbing. Boredom.

9. Ready for School to Start Again

You've made it through Summer and after three months of desperately trying to fill up your time you finally get to go back to school where you'll be so overwhelmed with work you'll never feel bored again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
