Everyone knows the struggle of starting a Netflix binge or show, and then 7 hours or 5 days later you come to the realization that there are no more episodes. You begin to question life and wonder how you will continue on with your life as if nothing were wrong. You've just spent so much time dedicating your days to some show that has no relevance to what's going on in your life, but somehow you felt so connected to it as if you were a part of the show itself. I know we all have been victims of this at some time or another, therefore we cannot deny it. I chose to binge watch were the 10 amazing seasons of "Friends". After the last episode finished up I found myself overcome with emotions, as if a chapter in my life ended. With that said, I have chosen to dedicate this article to the stages of a Netflix binge as told by the characters of "Friends".
1.The decision of which show you will decide to devote the next week(s) of your life to. There are so many good choices, but how on earth will you choose?
2. Once the show is finally decided you feel as if you've already accomplished so much, and you really have your life together.
3. You're about 3 episodes in and you're already addicted, and you come to the realization that your life is about to be taken over by the show.
4. It's that point in the show when you begin to develop favorite characters and you begin to get attached.
5. You're far enough into the show that you begin to talk and act like the characters on the show themselves.
6. Out of nowhere, you see that you're down to the last season and you only have 4 episodes left, but you have no idea where all of the time went.
7. After realizing that there are only a few precious episodes left, you must ration out the last ones in order for it to not end so quickly.
8. You begin to watch the last episode knowing you're going to be in emotional pain when it is over.
9. After the conclusion of the final episode, you are filled with a sadness that no one or thing can fix, and you know only another binge can be the solution.
After many hours and weeks or days spent watching this show of yours, you now understand the true pain of something you love being taken away from you. You begin to become disconnected from the characters, and be in denial until some other show comes around. This then causes a vicious cycle of bingeing on Netflix. Therefore, take my word for it and don't get too attached, which is almost impossible, but good luck.
