9 Songs That Can Turn Your Day Around Instantly

I don't think anyone needs an excuse to listen to some feel-good jams. However, when you've had a rough day, sometimes listening to a couple of upbeat songs can really help to cheer you up! I limited myself to only picking my top nine favorite songs that make me smile ear-to-ear. Whether you’re about to start your drive home after a bad day, running low on motivation during an all-nighter, or just want a pick-me-up, try listening to one of these songs to dance or sing along to and lift your spirits!

1. "Kaleidoscope" by a Great Big World

When you feel like your life keeps turning you around and around, this catchy song is easy to sing along to and make you grin!

2. "High" (Acoustic Version) by Young Rising Sons

Just let it go and enjoy the ride! Without the low, there is no high! This song always reminds me to put things into perspective. It also makes me want to buy a tambourine!

3. "Another Night on Mars" by The Maine

This one goes out to my closest friends. This wholesome ballad about friendship is perfect for a reminder that anywhere can be your home when you have good friends!

4. "Turn the Beat Around" by Vicki Sue Robinson

Turn your day around, literally, with this disco-pop number. You might recognize this song from its appearance in "The Martian"—a quality film to cheer you up if music is not your style.

5. "Banana Pancakes" by Jack Johnson

I would very much like to sleep in while Jack Johnson makes some banana pancakes. The best mornings are the days where you have nowhere to be and nothing to do. My favorite thing to do on a day like that is to make homemade pancakes. I love love love love pancakes—which is why I love this song!

6. "Sweet Pea" by Amos Lee

Sometimes the best songs are sweet and simple. "Sweet Pea" and "Banana Pancakes" are, by far, my all-time favorite breakfast-making pancake party jams.

7. "Little Bitty Pretty One" by Thurston Harris

Here is another song from another one of my favorite films. This song is featured in the film "Matilda" during the scene where she makes herself a bowl of cereal. It makes me want to dance all around the house!

8. "Carry On" by fun

When I’m feeling low, this song always helps me lighten up. May your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground. At the end of a bad day, it is important to carry on!

9. "Good Day" by Nappy Roots

Save that drama for another day. I want you to make today a good day when you wake up, and I hope some of these songs help you do just that!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
