9 Songs That Remind You of Your Sisters

We listen to music these days like it’s nobody’s business. We sing along to them on crazy long road trips, in between rounds during recruitment, and while we’re studying for the biggest exams of our lives. But one of the most amazing things about music is that whenever a song comes on the radio, Spotify, or your playlist, we automatically reminisce to the greatest memories we’ve shared with our sisters.

1. "You were born and raised to be a southern belle but in a place like this you like to raise a little hell." – Sorority Girl, Luke Bryan

So Luke just described your typical sorority girl (hence the title of the song). But we all know we're not all the stereotypical sorority girl. We don't always wear sundresses to football games. Not all of us are tan year round, and we're all a lot smarter that people give us credit to be. There's just something about this song (the tune, the lyrics, or maybe the guys singing it) that reminds us to have fun and say "F the stereotypes."

2. "If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see, I'll be the light to guide you." – Count On Me, Bruno Mars

Bruno tells it the way it is. As sorority women, we know that no matter what kind of trouble we get ourselves into, we'll have two hundred reliable women who will be more than happy to help a sista out.

3. "We can live fast, fly young. Every day we celebrate just like we won. Only you and I, DIY. We found a way to live the dream until we die." – We Got the World, Icona Pop

Being in a sorority has been one of the best decisions any of us have made. When we're with our sisters, we feel unstoppable. We can live how we want, have as much fun as we want, and know that our sisters are there with us to do the same.

4. "And I realize the blame is on me, cause I knew you were trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now." – Knew You Were Trouble, Taylor Swift

We all had this feeling going through recruitment. There were those few girls we all had a feeling would be some of the most outgoing and fun girls for our chapter... And boy were we right. But, it happens, you know?

5. Everything is looking up, everybody up now. This is gonna be the best day of my life." – The Best Day of My Life, American Authors

Every day with our sisters is the best day of our lives. Nothing compares to doing homework, hanging out, watching movies and going on road trips with our sisters.

6. And when you need a place to run to, for better for worse, I got you." – I Got You, Leona Lewis

We've all had those days when we feel like we're alone in the world, like no one understands what we're going through. Though that may be true, we know that our sisters are always there for us with open arms for us to run in to. And they always manage to turn those awful days into some of the best we've ever had.

7. "First time I saw you, I knew right away. Made up my mind, you would be mine someday." – All the Way, Timeflies

Whether this pertains to recruitment or during our search for the perfect little/big, we all had this feeling at some point and time. It's indescribable, the feeling we get. But it lets us know that we've made the best decision joining the sisterhood that we're a part of.

8. "I owned every second that this world could give. I saw so many places , the things that I did. Yeah, with every broken bone, I swear I lived." – I Lived, One Republic

Many of us were boring people before going Greek. It wasn't until joining a sorority and surrounding ourselves with some of the most involved and dedicated women did we realize all the things we were missing in our lives. Looking back, we can really say that because of our chapter, we've lived the life we're supposed to.

9. "I've been lost, and I've been found, but who I am with you is who I really want to be." – Who I Am With You, Chris Young

Our sisters have helped bring out the best in us. They've helped us find who we're supposed to be in this life. Each and every day we have with them is a blessing because we know that they're the ones who make us who we really want to be.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
