1. We say pop instead of soda.

And when you travel anywhere else, people make fun of you for saying pop rather than soda.

2. Wearing shorts in the winter is not abnormal at all.

20 degrees? That's nothing.

3. It's duck duck grey duck not duck duck goose.

We call the popular childhood game duck duck grey duck not duck duck goose.

4. We call it a hot dish not a casserole.

Tater tot hot dish is definitely the best, and yes that's a thing.

5. Lake life is the best life.

If you’re from Minnesota and you don’t spend much of your summer on the lake, are you really a true minnesotan? I mean we are the land of 10,000 lakes.

6. We know that there are only two real seasons: winter and construction.

Anyone from Minnesota knows that these are the two only times of the year.

7. We always pray for snow days but rarely ever get them.

A foot of snow? Roads are slippery? Nah, you'll be fine going to school anyways.

8. We're usually pretty nice people.

Where else would we get the term Minnesota nice?

9. "Uff Da" and "You Betcha" are pretty common phrases.

Yes we say these and yes we probably have a little accent.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
