9 Signs You’ve Found Your Dream Internship

Having a summer internship as an undergrad is a rite of passage for building up your resume but finding one that you actually enjoy is a whole different story. Between the dreaded coffee-and-copies gig, the struggles of working unpaid, and the long, boring days with nothing to do, your work experience can quickly turn into the worst experience. Luckily, sometimes you hit the internship jackpot. Here are nine signs that there’s nowhere else you’d rather spend the summer.

1. You’re excited to go to work in the morning.

You know when you have an 8 a.m. class and you’d rather pull all of your hair out than get out of bed? Yeah, that shouldn’t happen if you’ve found the right internship.

2. You stay late voluntarily and want to keep working from home.

If you turn into a total workaholic, volunteering for every assignment and working more than you sleep, you’re probably onto something.

3. Whether you’re paid or not, the work you do is rewarding enough in itself.

I can’t deny that money is pretty cool, but if you’ve found love in an open space, it won’t even matter that you’re not getting any… money, that is.

4. You feel comfortable in your workplace.

There’s nothing worse than not knowing where to put down your things and worrying about doing something wrong all the time. Your perfect internship feels like a second home. Okay, that might be pushing it, but you get my point.

5. You get along with your coworkers.

Not only will getting along with your coworkers make your internship enjoyable, but working with like-minded people will also clue you into knowing whether or not this field is right for you.

6. You look up to your bosses.

If you’re completely fan-girling over your superiors, you should probably pursue this thing.

7. You could see yourself working there in five years.

An internship is all very well and good but it only lasts a few weeks before you go back to reality - ahem, college. So if you’d be totally okay with this job being your life for an extended period of time, well, you know the drill.

8. You’re not constantly waiting for your lunch break or the end of the day.

You’re actually passionate about the work you’re doing and eager to do your best. That sub-par turkey sandwich you brought in for lunch and the clock hand striking five suddenly aren't the most exciting parts of your day.

9. You can’t stop talking about your job.

If you’re drilling everyone’s heads with ramblings about said internship, workplace, and bosses, you know it’s real.

Having a good internship can make a world of difference, and help you figure out what you want to do with your life. And that’s pretty cool - especially in college.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
