We all know that families are well-meaning and they just want the best for you. But, every single family gathering you can't help but want to pull your hair out. Why? Because your family won't stop bugging you about your relationship status, college and your future. So when your family starts hounding you with questions, there are a few responses that you should keep in your back pocket just in case.

"When are you getting a job?"

Giphy

Just remember to add in "eventually" so it keeps things open-ended for the next time they see you.

"Are you in a relationship?"

Giphy

If you're in a relationship that's great! If you're like me, you're sick of hearing this question. Thanks for the reminder that I'm still single, grandma. I love you, too.

"When are you going to get married?"

Giphy

Families love marriages. When one isn't likely to come around the corner, they start turning to the remaining single people to quickly get hitched. But no, I'm not engaged. Or even in a relationship, for that matter.

"When are you gonna have kids?"

Giphy

Everyone wants to know who's gonna have the next kid in the family and you're old enough now to be included in that group. But no, kids are not coming from here any time soon.

"How's school going?"

Giphy

School sucks. I've been told by so many people that college was great and honestly, what school did they go to and what did they major in? Because all I'm getting here is that college sucks.

"What's your major again?"

Giphy

It's still the same thing that I told you at Christmas and the summer before and the Christmas before that and the summer before that. I'm glad I could keep you updated, though.

"What are your plans once you graduate?"

Giphy

We know what we'd like to have a plan set in concrete from the beginning, but you can't just make things happen. Whatever is supposed to happen, will happen. We'll figure it out so stop stressing us out about it in the meantime.

"What have you been up to?"

Giphy

Either A: you really haven't done anything or B: you just got drunk last night not that you're gonna tell your grandma that. She would be so disappointed.

"What are you drinking?"

Giphy

I'm 21. I can drink, and I'm going to do so at my discretion when it's appropriate. That just happens to be at every single family event.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

20247
bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

5155
Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

You cannot beat the beach. Believe it or not (which many people may not), New England has a long and beautiful coastline. Most of my high school summers were spent sitting on the Wall at Hampton Beach, getting sunburnt and eating Acai bowls from The Secret Spot. The Wall was the place to be both during the day and at night. We begin our days there with a KB's bagel and coffee, and end them with pizza and ice cream. It’s not a New England summer without that 4 p.m. text from someone, “Who wants to meet at the Wall tonight?” Nighttime is for Tripoli’s Pizza, the sound of waves, and wishes on shooting stars. Wednesday nights are especially important, as those are the nights that Hampton Beach sets off the weekly firework display.
