"Mother and Daughter: It's a special bond that spans the years. Through laughter, worry, smiles and tears, a sense of trust that cannot be broken, a depth of love sometimes unspoken, a lifelong friendship built on sharing, hugs and kisses, warmth and caring, mother and daughter, their hearts as one - a link that can never be undone." - Unknown
As you are growing up you go through different stages of the relationship you have with your mom. When you are in elementary school, she is the person that helps you with your homework, gives you a bath and tells you to eat your veggies. In middle school, she is the person that starts to drive you to all your practices, sleepovers, annoys you to do your homework and is there for the first fight you have with your friends.
Then in high school she is the person that never understands you or what you are going through, she doesn't understand why you want to wear so much make up, your hair that way or the clothes you wear, she doesn't understand why you are so heartbroken by the latest boy. By your junior or senior year of high school you tell her that you cannot wait to go to college so that you do not have to live by her rules anymore. You get to college and you realize that your mom is the best best friend you will ever have and here is why.
1. She will never judge you.
Well not for long anyway... She might be like why in the world did you do that? But after you give her what you think is a good explanation, she will no longer be judging you. The next time you see her in person she will more then likely bring it up, but not because she is judging you, only because she wants to hear your real explanation.
2. She will always support you.
You could change your mind a million and one times and she will still always be your number one supporter (tied with grandma). She will always send you Bitmojis and motivation quotes and will expect a text or phone call right after that interview or presentation.
3. She will answer your phone call anytime, day or night.
You can call your mom at six am when you got up early to study for that big test or one am on a Saturday night to tell her who was wearing what. She will enjoy the call because she then knows you are safe. You always text her to let her know you made it home alive after a night out.
4. She will always defend you.
She can make comments about you but as soon as someone else makes a negative comment about you, they better watch out.
5. She cares more about your appearance then you do.
You try to send her pictures everyday of what you are wearing and some days you slack and wear yogas and she will most likely have something to say about it. She will say "Is that what you are wearing today? Are you wearing your hair like that?" She thinks you are beautiful and always wants you to dress that way.
6. She's been through it all.
She has been there through it all with you. She takes care of you when you are sick (whether you are ten or twenty), shes been there through your first bad grade, the first fight with your best friend and your first heartbreak. She has always been there for your to cry to.
7. You've inherited half her genes.
When someone says you look like your mom or you sound like your mom, that is not an insult, you love love love to be told that.
8. She will listen to you brag for hours on hours.
She is one of the few people (tied with grandma again) that you will call and continuously talk about that A you got or that new position you got and so many other things. You will never feel bad about bragging to them, they will listen to you and then go brag to everyone else about you. You will come home for break and everyone will know everything successful that you have done throughout the semester.
9. She will always be the devils advocate.
You will have some bad days where everyone around you is on your nerves so of course you call mom to tell her about it. She of course will let you rant about it but will still say that you really shouldn't be mad at that person or something along those lines. She will also like when you call her and before you even start to rant you say to her, I don't need you to be the devils advocate, I just need you to listen to me for right now and tell me that it is okay to be annoyed, and she will easily accept that and listen to you for however long it takes.
