Space Jam is the brilliant 1996 film where three amazing things merge into one: basketball, Michael Jordan, and Loony Toons. However, there has seemed to be a mix up on how good Space Jam actually is. Lately, there has been controversy surrounding Space Jam wondering if it really is as good of a movie as people remember it to be or if it's just the millennial nostalgia getting to us. People have been making claims that it actually isn't funny. That there's nothing unique or groundbreaking. The acting isn't great. But are those things true? Fortunately, I am here to tell you that Space Jam actually is as great of a movie as everyone remembers. In fact, this movie is actually better than everyone remembers and let me tell you why:
1. Great animation
If there is anything Space Jam is known for, it's the quality animation in tandem with real life humans.
2. Pure comedy genius
Everyone laughs at least three times during the viewing of Space Jam. This is a fact.
3. The dunk to end all dunks
Can you dunk with a monster on you? I didn't think so.
4. Michael Jordan is a good sport about his failed baseball career
No pun intended.
5. Romance
Name a better romantic subplot. I dare you.
6. Women empowerment
Lola is a badass woman who defies gender stereotypes while also retaining femininity and that's something no one can deny.
7. Great round characters
You really see the sides of characters you never thought you'd see.
8. Good sportsmanship
What's more heartwarming than good old-fashioned sportsmanship?
9. Bill Murray
