9 Reasons Why Going To The Same College As Your Older Sibling Is The Best

For some people, going to the same college as their sibling is the last thing that they'd want to do. However, I'm not ashamed to admit that the fact that my sister is at Auburn was a very minor contributing factor in my college selection process. Therefore, I know that going to the same college as your older sibling is a blessing in disguise.

1. You always have transportation

Not having a car in college kind of sucks. How else are we supposed to get groceries? However, your sibling can chauffeur you around.

2. Therefore, going home and back to college is the best

There's always plenty of snacks, inside jokes, and singing in the car. And when we're on that note...

3. There is no judgment for your karaoke habits

Lack of musical ability is usually genetic so your sibling probably won't judge you when you sound like a dying cat while singing.

4. You get to avoid the dorm laundry rooms

Are there horrible women that fight with you over machines and put red socks in your white load in the dorm laundry rooms? Lucky for me, I wouldn't know. I even get to do my laundry for free!

5. They'll feed you when you come over

Sometimes the food you have in your dorm just isn't enough. That's when you go to your sibling's house for chicken nuggets. And when they don't have anything, that's when you go to the drive-through.

6. You can talk to them about anything

SOMETIMES IT'S JUST TOO MUCH AND YOU NEED SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS.

7. ...And they'll tell you it's going to be OK.

They've been through all of this before, so they know what to do and what to say to make you feel better.

8. But you don't have to be with them all the time

Sometimes your siblings annoy you and you annoy them and that's perfectly fine. If it's not a good time for either of you, you don't need to see them that day, especially when you know that the experience won't be particularly pleasant.

9. You'll always have a best friend at college

Through all the ups and the downs of college, my sister is always there for me. At this point, I honestly couldn't imagine being at school without her.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
