Moving away is always hard. One day, you are conquering the world with your best friend by your side, and the next, you are hundreds or thousands of miles away from each other. Although you might not realize it now, here are the many reasons having a long distance best friend is great:
1. They always take your side.
When you have roommate troubles or issues with professors at school, you can complain to them and they will be guaranteed to take your side. After all, they know you best and want you to be happy.
2. They tell it like it is.
If you're making stupid decisions, they won't be scared to call you out on it. Talking to someone that isn't good enough? They'll let you know. Did you go a little too far with partying last semester? Just ask them. They are always there to be honest, and it's much needed in college.
3. They will always answer your texts.
When you are bored in class or don't want to walk alone across campus, you can text them and it's like they are right there by your side again. You can tell them about all the weird things that happened throughout the day and they are guaranteed to have a similar story.
4. You can always look forward to their calls.
Every call is a new adventure. Learning about all the things that have happened throughout the week that they didn't have time to text you helps you feel a little more connected, regardless of the miles in between.
5. The reunions are that much better.
Holidays are times for reunion and seeing your best friend after a few months makes everything feel whole again. After being your other half for countless years, the time apart makes you realize how much you need them in your life.
6. Endless bucket lists.
Only have two weeks together? No problem! Hiking on Monday, ice cream on Tuesday, movie night on Wednesday...and the list continues.
7. You have someone to countdown with.
The next time you are together is always a big deal, no matter how long you've been apart. Most likely you send each other texts every few days with screenshots of your countdown apps.
8. They understand you like no other.
You tell each other everything so when you tell them about your latest issue, they know exactly what will help you pull through. Whether it's just a few kind words or a funny video, they always know how to help.
9. Time spent together is valuable.
You don't get much together, so any time you do spend together is priceless
10. Your bond is indestructible.
You know that they are always there for you in your heart, no matter how far away they really are, and that's a friendship worth keeping.
11. Miles become meaningless.
It's just a number. It doesn't mean that a friendship has to suffer because of it. You will always be reunited. You will always stay connected. It is not always easy, but it sure is worth it to have someone hours away cheering you on.
