9 Movies That Will Make You Believe In Love Again

In This Article:

Don't pretend you don't enjoy the occasional night of back to back, classic romantic movies. As Julia Roberts says in Pretty Woman, you could "veg out" in front of the TV all night long and enjoy a nice pint of your favorite ice cream flavors while an unrealistic love story lights up your living room. Guys, you can pretend to moan and groan when its your girlfriend's turn to pick the movie and for the eighteenth time in a row she chooses The Notebook. But we all know that you are secretly looking forward to the canoe scene.

1. How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

This wild, comedic love story follows two strong, independent, New York writers on their journeys to get this month's best article out into the world. With each of them attempting to dupe the other, things get a little complicated as love wedges itself into the mix.

2. Breakfast At Tiffany's

Something I find most common when it comes to this wedding is that everyone has heard of it, but no one has actually seen it. This 1960's romance film tells the tale of a woman desperate to escape her past, but not yet ready to face the trials of her future. She will inspire you to believe in fairy tales and dress like every night is a red carpet affair.

3. The Notebook

Yes, I did have to include this. It is the greatest love story ever told, therefore I would be lying to you if I left it out. The timeless tale of Allie and Noah Calhoun shows the real, raw parts of a relationship that no one really talks about. It takes you through the intense joys of young love followed by the harsh truths of the real world. Grab your tissues because this one will bring out the ugly cry.

4. Julie And Julia

This one is not quite like the others. It is a true story about a woman who attempts to cook her way through Julia Child's famous cook book, but it definitely tells a few love stories along the way. It showcases the intimate love that the world-renowned chef shared with her husband, as well as the rocky, New York romance of her self-proclaimed protege.

5. Sex And The City

The most modern version of a classic. Carrie Bradshaw makes no bones about the mistakes that we make when it comes to love. Whether you're a twenty-something just trying to get one thing right, or a forty-something lost in translation, this movie shows us that love is a wonderful, wild thing.

6. You've Got Mail

Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks together are the perfect recipe for classic romance. In this 1990s film, the two establish an anonymous online relationship while acting as opposing forces out in the real world. It will have you on the edge of your seat and at the end of your rope.

7. Pretty Woman

The absolute peak of Julia Roberts' career. Ladies everywhere continue to envy her style showcased in this film. A chance meeting of multi-millionaire Edward Lewis and Hollywood Boulevard escort Vivian Ward lead to an impossible bond that can't be broken. This 1990s classic is one you will want to watch over and over again.

8. Amelie

Set in the place where love knows no bounds, this French film is one worth watching through the subtitles. Young Amelie has always been different and for that reason has given up on finding true love. That is until one day when she devises a plan to make her childhood crush fall for her in the sneakiest of ways.

9. Ruby Sparks

Do you ever wish you could invent the perfect partner up in your head? So did Calvin, a young novelist who fears that his writing career was that of a one-hit wonder. Until one day, he breaks out the old typewriter and begins writing out his perfect woman. Over night, Ruby Sparks leaps from the page to life and proves that an ideal woman can truly exist—but you might discover her to be different from what you thought you wanted.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
