9 Essentials For Traveling

Because airports suck.

9 Essentials For Traveling

There are very few people who enjoy traveling, and by that I really just mean flying. Whether it be in small airports with only a dozen terminals, or giant airports that require a bus to transport you from one end to the other, flying is a pain. Not only is going through security exhausting and monotonous, but even when you finally get inside to find your flight navigation is time consuming and seems relatively impossible. So here are some ways to make your traveling experience less painful.

1. Bring a light carry on

More recently airports have reduced the size of carry-on bags. And if your carry-on seems to be too big or heavy, they will check it and put your bag elsewhere to grab after the plane ride. And while some people have no problem with that, be wary of your lay-over. If you have less than a 30 minutes, your best bet is to check a bag.

2. Earphones

Don't forget them. Under no circumstance is having no earphones sustainable through a day of traveling. No chance you get to nap with the crying baby behind you on the plane unless you have headphones.

3. Magazines

Bring them. Or even a light read. But doing any kind of intense work on a plane goes absolutely no where.

4. Bring a blanket

Regardless of how warmly you dressed, it always gets chilly at high altitudes. Plus, your own blanket is going to be much more comfortable and soft than the blankets the airplanes offer.

5. Comfy clothes

Obviously look nicely put together, but there is nothing worse than being uncomfortable in the clothes that you chose for the day. Do not wear annoying sandals or flats that can give blisters.

6. Be kind to the employees

Don't be stand-offish towards the workers. Sharing a smile and a friendly conversation will make them more willing to be helpful and courteous when you need something from them.

7. Don't forget bag tags

Essentials! The paper ones that they have at the ticket check it will break off and your contact is lost.

8. Remove all other old flight tags

Makes it easier on the employees and you so your baggage is not lost. Oftentimes your bags can be carried to a completely different location because the sorting process gets messed up.

9. Bring some snacks for the plane

This should be an obvious reason. But your food is always better than plane food.

So while you are off traveling this summer, make sure to keep these in mind to make your plans easier and more enjoyable.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
