9 "Firsts" to Achieve With Your Significant Other

When I first began dating my boyfriend, more and more knowledge surfaced between us. We learned the in's and out's, the secrets and the most obvious facts. Of course, Matt distinctly pointed out how often I say I do not "like" certain things without of course having tried them yet.

My boyfriend has shown me, among many other things, that I should never knock something until I try it. He has proven to me that I need a can do attitude and an open mind to take on anything, of course with him right by my side. There are many things I would not have attempted unless he was there pushing me with motivation.

Here are 9 "Firsts" that you should achieve together with your significant other:

1. Ride a Rollercoaster.

This is one of my goals. I have never ridden a rollercoaster and I know just the person who will go with me and make me feel most safe.

2. Try Mussels.

We're Rhode Islanders, it was the summer, and seafood just clicks. Not for me though, I've never tried it and having him order a plate to himself made me realize I probably should jump on the bandwagon. Although I did not like it too much, I still tried my first seafood.

3. Climb a Mountain.

When we finally arrived at a short vacation time from work, the boyfriend was very insistent that we climb a mountain. I don't really stay in shape, and am not a big health nut... so you can tell I wasn't happy the whole way up. But, nonetheless he made me feel confident and that I could do it, and the view at the top with him there was breathtaking.

4. See a new artist in concert.

Dating somebody brings new music to listen to. Surprisingly the music he listens to is catchy- and the same for mine. When we first started dating we went to a concert together. Nothing was better than seeing him enjoying himself at a concert I wanted to go to.

5. See a live sports game.

All guys are interested in some kind of sport. I went to my first basketball game- The Celtics-- and it was much more fun and interesting than watching it on TV. I would always watch it and try to carry along but when seeing it in person you understand it better and it is just much more interesting!

6. Drive a stick shift.

This was his idea- His car still moves, and I learned something new!

7. Take road trips for actual stupid reasons.

One day I called him and asked if we could go to Boston for cannolis from Mike's Pastry. He said yes and it made me so happy. We packed up the dog and went to Boston for a short time just enjoying each others company and the spontaneity that we brought that day.

8. Get out and try a new hobby with confidence.

I don't really like to try to go new places because I'm usually afraid I'll look dumb. But thankfully for Matt, he brought me into the gym to start to get toned and could tell I was getting frustrated from it. He was thoughtful enough to give me a little pep talk and help made me feel more confident for being there!

9.Try new restaurants in a new city.

Even if you don't go to a new city- always try something new. You never know what could be your new tradition from there on out!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
