9 Aquamarine Quotes That Will Make You Want To Be A Mermaid (Again)

Aquamarine was released in 2006, so if you are a college-aged girl, it is likely that this was one of the movies of your childhood. From the unbreakable friendship of Claire, Hailey, and Aquamarine to the teenage drama and romance (I still can’t believe they were only in middle school), this movie has something that all teenage girls can relate to. This movie is filled with fabulous puns (most of which you don’t catch until you re-watch the movie 4+ years later), and the amount of sass and sarcasm is unreal. These quotes may not all be about the perks of being a mermaid, but they do remind us of the courage, strength, and honesty that Aquamarine shows towards her two best friends.

1. "Who needs Raymond? I found two new men to love... Their names are Ben and Jerry!"

This one speaks to me. I have never loved Aquamarine or Ben and Jerry’s more.

2. “And I know there’s a reason why everybody wants it so much.” / “And what’s that?” / “It’s the closest thing we have to magic.”

Even though these girls are only 13 or 14 years old, they are wise beyond their years. They really do know how to describe love.

3. “I was named Aquamarine after a rare and precious gemstone, whereas... Cecilia translated means "dim-sighted." But your parents know you better than I do.”

Aqua has to be the sassiest girl/mermaid out there. And the best part is, she doesn’t know it. She just harmlessly carries on with her sassy remarks and hilarious puns.

4. “We are not fictional! We're just discreet!”

It was at this moment that Aqua gave us hope that there really could be mermaids out there.

5. “But I've learned it's not where you are, it's who you're with.”

Even as Aqua laughs and jokes around as she adjusts to life with feet, she tends to have the deepest, most heartfelt conversations with Claire and Hailey.

6. “What’s happening to me? I’m leaking! . . . I’m leaking saltwater.”

This is hands-down one of the funniest quotes in the movie. Even though Aqua is crying, you can’t help but laugh.

7. “They literally give me compliments - in my ear. They talk to me. Starfish are notorious suck-ups. They love to give compliments.”

We are still waiting for these earrings to be a thing. Seriously. How great would it be to have someone/something constantly give you compliments and tell you the truth?

8. Raymond: “Are you always so sure of yourself?” Aquamarine: “Yes.” Raymond: “It's nice. More people should be like that.”

Aquamarine has killer confidence, and Raymond has no problem telling her the truth. We really do need more people like them.

9. "Why go through life unnoticed?"

Aqua teaches us that we can't be afraid to stand out and show who we really are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
