9 Reasons Driving Is Actually The Worst

These things grind my gears.

After having made my first venture to college in my own car, I feel like an experienced and talented driver for having expertly navigated my way to school. I survived 3 hours on the road! (Honestly, I know that 3 hours is not that long and I am not really a talented or experienced driver, but I was proud so those words seemed to fit.) The drive really got me thinking about some things on the road that we drivers have to put up. Here are some things that annoy me when driving!

1. Slow left lane cruisers

The interstate feels cutthroat sometimes. I don't mind a left lane cruiser if they are a speed demon - because they will pass everyone in my line of vision eventually, but for the left lane cruisers that actually obey the speed limit??? Well, I really don't like to turn off my cruise control because I'm waiting on you!

2. The Passing Game

When you are on the interstate and another driver is going about the same speed as you, but you both keep getting too close and the cycle of passing each other begins. Just be the bigger person and pick a different speed!

3. Semis on cruise control

It's not so much semis on cruise control, but rather WHEN SEMIS PASS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL. That takes like 15 minutes, and then I have to turn off my cruise control to go 65.

4. No passing zones

It's the worst when someone going 45 mph is in front of you in a no passing zone, especially when you have somewhere to be.

5. A stoplight just for you

When I am stopped at a stoplight and no one else is around.... it seems like the open road taunts me. A voice in my head just says "go no one else is here", but yet, I cannot run that red light.

6. Radio talk

I turn on the radio, excited to listen to some good music, but instead the song ends and we begin the half hour discussion segment. Why does it seem like I am also driving when the radio hosts are talking?

7. Radio buzz

I don't know about you, but I can't stand it when my favorite radio station goes out of range. The music is diluted with an awful buzzing sound and then in this new region, I don't know any of the good radio stations!

8. Other people driving

Traffic is the worst.

9. Country roads

Driving on a gravel road constantly makes me afraid to ding up my car, but it is even worse when someone going the opposite direction has to pass you and sprays rocks in your direction!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
