Now that it’s summer, about 90 percent of the average college student’s stress is relieved. We can go out late without having to worry about exams or papers, work more hours to earn more money, and travel more often. While going to the beach and staying outside are fun things to do in this beautiful weather, they're not always satisfying -- sometimes, you just need some time alone indoors. Unfortunately, even that well-needed personal time can get dull. If you ever find yourself bored at home, try out these fun websites.
1. Free Rice
Just by answering questions correctly, rice will be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme! Each question translates to ten grains of rice -- which means, just by answering ten questions, you’ve probably donated just about enough rice for a hungry person in need to enjoy a meal.
2. Shut Up And Take My Money
This website has just about everything you don’t need, but definitely want to buy. I mean, anywhere that advertises a water fountain for your dog has to be brilliant.
3. Addicting Games
A classic. Nearly everyone I’ve ever met is familiar with this website -- it was always a class-favorite, back in middle school when we had free time in the computer lab. While the oldies, like The Impossible Quiz, are still present, there are plenty of fun, new games just waiting to be tried.
4. Google Maps
As nerdy as it sounds, it can be fun to live vicariously through a foreign Street View. Just pick a random place in a random country, or even look up some popular locations to go to. If you feel like having a minor heart attack, search the coordinates 47.110579, 9.227568, go to the street view, and look up at the sky.
5. Google Earth
Like Google Maps, there are a ton of freaky conspiracies and hidden places to find on Google Earth. The following is just a few locations you might want to see for yourself:
45° 7’25.87″N 123° 6’48.97″W
30.541634, 47.825445
37.629562, -116.849556
6. The Useless Web
This one, literally, takes you to a useless (but probably amusing) website with the click of a button.
7. Slither.io
In this game, you’re a snake, (ha, get it? Slither) and your objective is to defeat all the other snakes by blocking them in their path. With each particle your snake “eats,” the bigger it gets -- and the easier it is to win. This, literally, endless game can get boring, I’ll admit -- but it’s extremely addictive!
8. BuzzFeed
This one might be an obvious choice, but I know you secretly love it. We all do. It contains a countless number of quizzes to take, ranging from “What Kind Of Dog Are You," to this number test that determines what type of personality you have. Plus, who doesn't love BuzzFeed's awesome food videos and recipes?
9. Get Travoltafied
Remember that time, at the 2014 Oscars, when John Travolta totally butchered Broadway and "Frozen" star, Idina Menzel’s, name? Well, lucky for you, this lil’ gadget lets you butcher your own name just as badly. Just type in your name (or someone else’s, of course,) and voila!
