8 YouTube Make-Up Artists To Watch When You’re Feeling Down

There are few things I find true comfort in, and doing my makeup is one of them. I know people have some really vain ideas about women and makeup, but honestly what I put on my face is none of your concern. I didn’t ask for your opinion so why are you offering it?

Makeup is a skilled practice. No one is a natural at doing makeup trust me, so one of the ways you can up your game is to watch YouTube tutorials. There are so many amazing makeup artists out there that just make magic happen with some eyeshadow and lip stick. They also happen to be some of the funniest people on the web. So I decided to compile a little list of some of my favorite MUAs in hopes that when you are feeling a little lackluster their amazing videos will brighten your spirit.

Manny MUA

He talks a mile a minute and rambles on about the most ridiculous things, but is a complete gem. Many of his tutorials feature a strong eye look and nude lips, so if you’re looking to try something bold like a green smoky eye or a pop of cranberry he is your guy. Manny has been a YouTuber for about two years now and in that short span of time he’s garnered almost 700,000 followers. He has a few items of his own like a lipstick called Serenity by Gerard Cosmetics, and you can get a discount on Morphe products with his code MANNYMUA. (I’ve tried it, it works. Morphe is bae.)

Patrick Starrr

Another male MUA who just happens to be best friends with Manny MUA. Patrick is actually really inspirational and preaches acceptance and the idea that makeup is supposed to be fun and a form of expression. A huge fan of the turban, he also seems to be addicted to lush lashes and lux nails.

Jackie Aina

Jackie’s videos are geared towards women of color and I love that soooo much. Not to say that everyone can’t watch her videos. Her tutorials on color correcting and lipstick shades for darker skinned women are just perfect and so informative.

Nikkie Tutorials

Nikkie is so popular I’m not even sure I need to mention her. She is truly talented. Her Halloween makeup videos are what initially drew me in, but I find her hair tutorials equally interesting.

Kathleen Lights

I am so in love with Kathleen Lights. She isn’t an actual MUA but her makeup tutorials make that extremely hard to believe. Through her I fell in love with Colourpop cosmetics, a cruelty free brand that I frequently buy from, Kathleen has a line with them and is coming out with even more affordable products! Thank the makeup gods!

The Socialite Life

Sande is kind of like that cool aunt that visits you every Thanksgiving. She has a bombastic personality and dirty jokes that will have you in tears. Another woman of color, Sande does some awesome foundation reviews and really explains the formulaic aspect of makeup.

Graveyard Girl

Bunny, bunny, bunny. She is off her rocker in the best way. Not only does she do transformative makeup tutorials, she also does product reviews for “As Seen on TV” items. Comedy gold. She was one of the first people to grab the Lilumia brush cleaner and I’ve wanted one ever since…preferably pink.

Bretman Rock

Bret isn’t super active on YouTube, but when he posts a video it garners viewers insanely fast. Bret highlights for the gawds, but he makes jokes for all the haters out there. He's only 16 and lives in Hawaii but is definitely on his way to taking over both the comedy world and the makeup universe. He’s much more active on his Instagram and Snapchat so you definitely check those out.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
