If you're anything like me, you more than likely look forward to the weekends as a much-needed escape from your busy school week or maybe even as a way to catch up on that homework you have been procrastinating on. Being a college study is crazy, but I bet that you spend your weekends doing one or some of these things:
1. Going home for the weekend.
Maybe you do this more often than you would like to admit, but going home is a tempting idea after class gets out on Friday. Free food, a chance to do your laundry for free, and getting to sleep in your own bed: What more could you want? There's also the bonus of relieving some of that homesickness that you have had for a while. The only downside is that you probably have a curfew and a lot less freedom under your parent's roof.
2. Doing a frat lap and scoping out fraternity Parties.
This usually consists of you piling your friends into one of your cars and making your way to Fraternity Row with your windows down and your music blasting. Many a Friday night has begun that way in a effort to find something to do in Troy. If you are lucky, you might see something going on; if not, you could always hang out at your favorite fraternity, and if all else fails, there's The Porch. Speaking of which...
3. #totheporch
Many a wild Saturday night has ended up at The Front Porch. It's one of the most popular bars in Troy and always has live music playing when you walk in. Who can resist the flashing lights and blaring music of the Booty Dome? As the main go-to spot off campus, this place is usually packed on the weekends.
4. Having a girl's/guy's night.
Who knows how this kind of night is going to end? Who cares?! You're with your best friends and are more than determined to have a great time. Even if it's just playing games and taking a 2 a.m. trip to Waffle House, these usually are the best ways to spend the weekend.
5. Venturing outside the city.
Let's be honest. Troy doesn't exactly have a lot of things to do, and at some point, you're going to have to head out to Montgomery or Dothan if you're craving some Olive Garden or need to get some serious shopping in. More often than not, if you need something specific like a Vineyard Vines necktie or a Lilly Pulitzer dress, you're probably not going to find that at Walmart. Off to the mall you go and out of Trojan territory.
6. Let's go to the beach, beach!
One of the best things about Troy is that the beach is only a few hours away. Some of the best weekends I have ever had in college were when I rounded up all my friends with nothing to do and headed down to PCB for an impromptu beach trip. Sunshine and sand sounds a lot better than sitting indoors with no pants on eating chips. All you need is friends, a cooler of drinks, and gas money. What better decision is there?
7. Succumbing to a Netflix binge.
Sometimes I don't want to do anything on the weekend, or maybe there is nothing to do. Either way, Netflix is the backbone of college existence nowadays. If the weather is bad or I'm too much of a broke stereotype to do anything else, I'll sit in my apartment and binge-watch Netflix all weekend. Chances are that you've done the same, too. Besides, the weekend is the perfect time to watch an entire season (or two) of my favorite show, uninterrupted and worry free. Just be sure to stock up on snacks first.
8. Catching up on life.
This is probably one of hardest but most necessary ways to spend your weekend. It's also more than likely the result of an entire week of procrastination. I've spent numerous weekends locking my room with books spread around me, typing away furiously on a paper or flipping furiously through a book while trying to highlight everything for the test that I'm cramming for the next day. Nothing says college like putting off everything until the last minute!
