Though lots of people will say that being in a sorority means you're "buying your friends" or "wasting your money" or "just joining a group of people to party with," sorority life does have its perks. Both in college and once you graduate.
Such as...
1. Gain best friends - and therefore gain confidence, thanks to a support group that helps you take leaps of faith. I've tried so many things with my new sistas that I would have never done alone.
2. Gain connections (duh). But really, once you graduate, it's much easier in the job scene when you find someone who shares the same Greek letters as you. I've even had an employer tell me that they prefer to hire sorority women because, "They really know how to manage time and responsibilities."
3. You get free tutors. I can't even count the number of girls who have helped me with homework or given me tips for tests while I did nothing in return.
4. We keep each other fit. Every sorority girl is always down for walking the lakes (or somewhere else if you're not at LSU). I was even lucky enough to find someone who works out with me and keeps me accountable.
5. You are loved! By being in a sorority, you feel accepted and wanted. This makes you a more positive person and, again, helps you take bigger chances.
6. You become more outgoing. From sisterhood events to that awkward date you were set up with, learning how to socialize and make people feel comfortable starts to become second nature.
7. Campus seems a lot smaller and less intimidating because you start to see familiar faces.
8. You gain leadership qualities. Whether you hold a position or not, you have to lead something and someone at some time or another.
