Ah, the carefree days we took for granted far too often. No job, no financial obligations, lets face it, no obligations... period. Those three months back them always seemed like an eternity, but now, they fly by in the blink of an eye. Here are some fond memories of childhood summers well spent.
1. There was an abundance of these popsicles in your freezer.
You could eat endless amounts of these sugary treats during those hot summer days. And the pink and blue were always the first to be gone out of the freezer.
2. Slip N' Slides were a must.
You begged your mom every summer to buy the famous slip n slide. However, once you got it all set up and ready to go, the thing wasn’t all its cracked up to be. Bruises and hot, dry spots all over the slide were sure to ensue.
3. Suntans!
When we were kids, it was easy to get a nice tan! There was no indoor work or other obligations holding you back from soaking up some sun. We didn’t specifically go outside to “get a tan” and we would kill for that bronze glow now!
4. Smelling like this 24/7.
Oh, the official perfume of summer time.
5. Playing little online games because they were just so entertaining.
Dial-up Internet and time to waste often led to playing online games all day. It’s still a little odd to think about waiting almost an hour for a game to load or having to get off of the internet during the busy times of evening.
6. Your summertime fashion sense was impeccable.
The bright colors and off textures of fashion when we were kids brought a lot of extra fun to our summer days.
7. Junk food came with no regret.
It wasn’t uncommon for you to eat unhealthy snacks like mac n cheese and chips every day. Now, we spend time worrying about getting our summer body and getting into shape each summer.
8. You had sleepovers every night.
We all had that little group of friends that we seemed to spend every day with. They were like our brothers and sisters at one point and helped make our summers great.
