Every year new shows are put out for the enjoyment of us viewers, and as these programs progress, everyone begins to choose their favorite characters. While there are so many shows that have intriguing, hilarious and complex leads, all too many characters fall to the way-side and are not given the same attention and respect as the characters that they share so many scenes. In order to provide a fair share of love for all characters in our favorite shows, I complied a list of characters that I do not think get enough admiration.
1. Samwell Tarly, "Game of Thrones"
Honestly, how can you not love Sam? Everyone underestimates him because of his appearance and his intellectual nature, but he is a total bad-ass. He kills a White Walker to protect Gilly and little Sam, and does everything to protect and care for them. He takes on a child that isn't even his and calls him his own, and he leaves his family behind in order to be with his new little family. Sam sets the bar pretty high for me in terms of what I'm looking for in a guy.
2. Chibs Telford, "Sons of Anarchy"
Everyone always flaunts over Jax, and yes, you can't get much hotter than Jax Teller, but Chibs is just as hardcore and he has a Scottish accent as an added bonus. Chibs is the most loyal member of the club, and he goes above and beyond to set things straight and right all wrongs. He gives great advice, and is hilarious and a joy to watch.
3. Eugene Porter, "The Walking Dead"
As one of many characters well-known for their appearance, Eugene's mullet sure has its fair-share of memes and jokes hanging around the internet. Some completely hate him for lying to the group about who is really and for being rather cowardly, but he has come through for the group numerous times. He lacks physical might, but if he was not as witty as he is, he probably would have succumbed to his situation a long time ago.
4. Richard Splett, "Veep"
Richard is way too underrated as a character. He is incredibly hilarious for simply being who he is. While his honestly and matter-of-fact way of speaking can at times bother those around him and create more issues, Richard does hold a wealth of knowledge that is hidden behind his ever-smiling face. He is always up for everything and he supports and helps anyone that asks. Richard is the kind of friend that you want around because he will be there to help you and can put you in your place without you actually being aware that he is doing so.
5. Lily Tucker-Pritchett, "Modern Family"
Lily has certainly developed as a character as we have watched her grow up on the sitcom. She was always funny, but she has definitely gotten funnier over time. Her snide commentary and snarky judgements of the adults in her family make her seem wise beyond her years and it is hilarious to watch.
6. Susan Ross, "Scandal"
Susan may not have a huge role on the popular drama, but the few episodes that she has had are incredibly powerful. She is mistaken for being a meek, clueless woman, but in reality, she doesn't take anything from anybody. Her comebacks and gusto are inspiring, and I do not think that she gets the credit that she deserves. I personally wouldn't mind having her in office, but I believe that she would get work done.
7. Ray Gillette, "Archer"
I love Archer just as much as the next guy, but Ray has truly dealt with the most. Being paralyzed and having a double-hand transplant, among other things; Ray hasn't had it easy. He is sassy, deals with everything in the most hilarious manner and has some of the funniest lines.
8. Lucille Bluth, "Arrested Development"
The Bluth family matriarch is probably not the best example of a model parent, but there is something about her "I don't care" attitude that I can get behind. Sometimes you need to focus on yourself — maybe not to the extent that Lucille does —, but it is still important nonetheless. Lucille is hilarious and I do not think that she is properly credited with as much comedic gold as she's due.
