Thanksgiving is the perfect time to remind yourself of all that you are thankful for. Obviously, I'm very grateful for my family, my team, my fur babies, my job and my co-workers, etc. But I guess I am thankful for some things that I don't think of every day. Such as...

1. I'm thankful for the food I hate.

For me, this is potatoes. I HATE potatoes. Sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, all of them. I hate the consistency, the smell, the taste. There’s really not a single thing I like potatoes. But, I am thankful that I even had the opportunity to try the food, but that’s more than some people have. So yes, in the long run, I’m thankful for those disgusting potatoes.

2. I'm thankful that I must split my time between my significant other's family and mine.

I hate splitting the time between mine and my boyfriend’s family. Not because I don’t like them, it’s just the opposite. I want to spend all day with both of our families, so splitting a whole day between them isn’t fun at all. But how awesome is it that I have that many great people in my life that it makes it so hard to split my time??

3. I am thankful for having to push my dog’s begging nose off of the table.

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. I’m obviously so thankful for my pups, and even though I don’t love how badly they beg, and how many times I have to tell them to get down, I’m thankful for another holiday spent with them.

4. I am thankful for the too small table for my too large (and still growing) family.

Again, how awesome is it that I have so many awesome people in my life that we have to squeeze mismatch chairs into the table?

5. I am thankful for the rude people that I have come in contact with during the past month.

My professors have not been the nicest, my friends have not been the nicest, the employees at Lowe’s have not been the nicest, but I am thankful for all of them. They weren’t fun to deal with, but they’ve made me appreciate my sweet, loving family members even more.

6. Speaking of professors, I am thankful for the work the always pile on during this part of the semester.

Thank you for making me want to rip my hair out. Don't get me wrong, I still have so much work to do, but here I am, stuffing myself with turkey like I have no assignments and exams waiting for me. But this week off for fall break feels AWESOME.

7. I’m really thankful for Quizlet.

For students, this needs no explanation. And don't get me wrong, I still have so much work to do, but here I am, stuffing myself with turkey like I have no assignments and exams waiting for me.

8. I am thankful for the questioning family members.

You know when you go home for Thanksgiving that you must be prepared to answer the same questions 1993402 times because every conversation with your relatives goes something like this:

“How’s school?”

“It’s good. It’s school, so”

‘What’s your major again?”

“Insert major here.”

“Oh, that’s right. You got a job?”

“Yep. Same one for the past 6 months now.”

“How’s your boyfriend/girlfriend?”

“He/she’s good…” (and sitting right there, so they could answer for themselves.)

And then you must be prepared to have this EXACT same conversation a month later on Christmas Eve. And I will be thankful for it again then, too.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
