As we all grow up, you begin to realize how many different people are on social media. There are plenty of categories to throw people into, and when you take a step back, you realize that you too are in one of these categories.
Peacocks
Peacocks always want to show their large, beautiful, feathered tails. Similarly, social media peacocks are always trying to show how great they are and highlight their greatest moments. These people always want more followers and online popularity. Craving likes/favorites/retweets, some may delete certain posts if they do not reach a desired amount. Keeping their follower to following ratios high, peacocks end goal is to reach the highest ratio possible. It’s all just a big popularity contest for them.
Groundhogs
Groundhogs are the creepers of the social media universe. Creepers are everywhere, however, you may never know they are there until they accidentally like your Instagram picture from 52 weeks ago. Hiding behind everyone else’s posts, they lurk around in the crevices of cyber space looking over people’s shoulders. They simply stand back and watch the show that society puts on.
Woodpeckers
Woodpeckers essentially do not care about everyone else. They just want to post so that it will satisfy their own needs. Posting whenever they see something that piques their interest, they do not care about how many likes they get or how many followers they have. These people want to show the world what they see and how interesting their life is in that moment. Some post constantly throughout the day, quadrupling the number of the average poster.
Ghosts
If you are a ghost, you are never online or checking your feed. Being practically non-existent, many of the ghosts are new users or have social media just to conform to society. Essentially, you are never seen in the online world, you simply have the apps.
Fishermen/women
These people are always fishing for compliments. Right after they post something, they wait quietly and wait for comments. Something along the lines of “stahp you are too gorgeous” is a common comment in the ocean that they are fishing in. Fishers live for these comments that build up their ego.
Greek-bots
In a college full of Greek Life, you always get the “Greek-bots.” These social media users primarily made their accounts so that they could post things about Greek Life such as philanthropies to get the maximum points as possible. Many people can be Greek-bots; however, a true one would have a separate account dedicated to tweeting at fraternities/sororities.
Ranters
Ranters always have the longest posts. Many times addressing social issues or anything in general, Ranters cause social uproar. They typically always have something to say and if something big in the world happens, expect them to tell you what they think about it. Going on and on over topics, they also comment on a good portion of others posts to get their voice out there.
Dreamers
Dreamers are the ones who are constantly checking their feeds even when they already checked it 3 minutes ago. Refreshing pages after several minutes in hopes of finding a new post, Dreamers are usually extremely bored and check their feeds during any free time that they get. Sometimes, dreamers use this tactic to avoid awkward public scenarios.
