Spring break is here again. However, not everyone is going to be able to head down to the beaches. So what does that mean for the rest of us? For some, it means getting extra work hours in. Others, it may be a Netflix marathon in your parents house. But for you road trip junkies out there, here are some local ideas for you!
8. Turkey Run
Everyone has heard of Turkey Run. It's definitely one of those places that you have to go to at some point in your young adulthood. Go take a walk on the trails (I suggest the longest one).
7. 100 Acre Wood
Tucked behind the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the 100 Acre Wood has a plethora of trails and a huge lake. As you walk around, chances are that you are going to stumble upon an outdoor art exhibit!
6. US-64
Nothing quite like the open road. If there is a stretch of road that I'd suggest driving, it would definitely suggest US-64. This portion of road stretches from the west side of Indiana to the far east and it even cuts through Hoosier National Forest! If you just want to hit the open road and blare some music, I'd suggest driving here. Be careful! Don't get too close to the construction on I-65!
5. Shakamak State Park
Everyone talks about Turkey Run, but it feels like not too many people talk about Shakamak State Park. With a plethora of lakes, trails, and opportunities for horseback riding, this place is absolutely amazing when it comes to getting away from it all.

4. Carmel Arts District
Carmel has been following the lead of Fishers and they have been undergoing huge renovations. Because of all the new construction, there have been new neighborhoods forming and the Carmel Arts District is one of the many. Do you feel like taking on a one-pound elk burger? Want to take pictures with the life-size statues? Carmel may be the place for you.

3. Downtown Indianapolis
Downtown Indianapolis always has something to offer. Whether you are into sports, music, art, theater, or whatever, the Metro area will always have something for you to do. Just feeling hungry? No worries. There is sure to be a restaurant suited to match your cravings!

2. Hell's Gates and other haunted places
You've heard of Hell's Gates. You may have taken a folklore class or you may have heard about Hell's Gates from upperclassmen. There are many rumors that circulate around this haunted location. What is true and what is fake? What part of the legends are true? What will you find?

1. Fountain Square (Indianapolis)
Duckpin Bowling, Swing Dancing, a meadery AND a brewery? Fountain Square is one of the more popular cultural neighborhoods in Indianapolis. It's an area in which the arts thrives and there is constantly live music and art exhibitions on Fridays. There are so many opportunities for adventure in each nook and cranny. Who knows? You may want to get an apartment nearby!
