8 Tips For Surviving Finals Week
Her Campus

This is it, the last straw before a much-deserved winter break. We've worked our butts off all semester, been through ups and downs, and now all that stands between us and some peace and quiet, is finals week.

Here are 8 ways to make it through alive:

1. Get enough sleep.

I know you've heard this before, but it's so important. From personal experience I can tell you that not going to bed at a reasonable time during a jam-packed week, only makes matters worse. Especially the night before an exam, get at least 7 hours of sleep. Cramming material last minute won't do you any good anyways.

2. Eat well.

Good nutrition is always important. However, in a time when stress is running high and lots of energy is required, making smart food choices is necessary. I know it's easy to give into cravings and junk food, but they won't help. The brain needs to be fueled so that it can stay focused and not fail you.

3. Stay active.

This is another thing that we should always strive for. Once again, it can be very helpful when we might feel overwhelmed. I realize it may be hard to find the time but it's a great way to take a break from studying and de-stress. Instead of watching an episode of your favorite show, go outside and move a little even if it's only for 20 minutes.

4. De-stress.

Many schools have programs to relieve stress. Take some time off and attend some, they might give good tips and could be of great help.

5. Do something fun.

Finals week doesn't have to be studying all day long. It's okay to take a few hours off and get away from the books. Pick something fun to clear your mind and recharge.

6. Surround yourself with people.

Whether we like it or not, we're in this together. We're all in the same boat, so why not support each other. That could mean venting to your best friends or working with a study group. Surrounding yourself with other people won't make you feel alone.

7. Manage your time.

This is critical. Try making a schedule and sticking to it. This way you won't have additional stuff, like running out of time, to stress out about.

8. Have something to look forward to.

That might mean being excited about going home, or excited about break, or whatever else you might be looking forward to. Having that will make the week less painful and quicker.

I hope these tips were somewhat helpful. Remember that hard work pays off, and the end is near.

Happy finals!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
