8 Thoughts That Go Through Your Head In The Library

We've all had these thoughts go through our head, admit it.

We've all been there. You're trying to study or get an assignment done in the library, but the people around you have another idea in mind. You go to the library with every intention of being a good student and getting all of your work done, but people end up distracting you, or you end up distracting yourself. Either way, you usually don't get done all that you planned on getting done. Here are the eight thoughts that go through your head while you're in the library:

1. Can this person stop talking?

I get that this isn't the "quiet" section of the library, but can you please lower your voice? Or worse, someone decides to FaceTime or make a phone call while they are in the library. I mean, really?

2. Okay, I'm going to take a short break.

We've all done it. We get what seems like enough done and we reward ourselves with a short break, whether it be YouTube or online shopping we've all been guilty.

3. Can we condense this study group?

There's always that one group that starts off quite and small and it eventually grows in size and in loudness. It's usually a group of people all studying for the same test. Chances are, 9 out of 10 times they're not really studying for the test.

4. I need food.

There's no better way to procrastinate and take a break than with a quick snack.

5. Maybe I'll leave a little earlier than I planned.

It happens to the best of us. You planned to stay there for hours, but you start to get bored and less motivated. It's okay to want to stop, you've made it this far.

6. Why do people come to the library and not do any work?

No but seriously, if we want to talk about what you did over the weekend, or the latest event to happen in your life, why don'y you hang out in each other's rooms or something, not the library?

7. Okay if I concentrate for one more hour I can get this entire assignment done.

We've all made goals for ourselves. "Just 30 more minutes and then I'll leave." "Let me finish this paragraph and then I can go." It's always good to set goals for yourself, even if it takes a while.

8. Wow. I am such a good student.

You always feel better about yourself after going to the library. Even if you didn't do all that you wanted to, you probably got more done than you would've in your room, so good for you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
