8 Things We Dealt With In Middle School

High school is better, right?

8 Things We Dealt With In Middle School
Ingram the Conqueror

In middle school, we had our ups and our downs. Looking back at my years, I can do nothing but laugh at the things I used to do. Here are a few embarrassing things that we did in middle school.

1. Telling your parents that you were going to the movies with a group of friends but did not mention that your significant other will be there.

Don't lie, you know you did this at least once.

2. Writing "tbh idk u but that should change :)" on someone's Facebook wall

Whether you made your status 'like for truth is' or 'like for a rate' 'comment for an inboxed tbh ;*', you know you did it. Nothing was more interesting than finding out your crush liked your status so you would tell them that corny tbh. It might have worked for you and or it might not have, maybe you spoke and maybe you did not. All that matters is that you tried.

3. "My mom said that I can't come over because it's a school night"

Have you ever tried to go out when you had school the next day? Well if you did, your mom probably shot you down. She told you that it was a school night and that you should be going to bed early. If you were lucky, she may let you go out but you better be back by curfew or else you would be punished.

4. Playing Heads Up/7 Up

My favorite game to play ever in school was Heads Up 7 Up. We all tried to peek our heads from under our arms to guess who tapped us so we can play. You might have been tapped nicely but if it was one of your friends, you know they poked you very hard. Sometimes, one of your friends would try to set you up by having someone else tap you instead of your friend tapping you.

5. Having text message signatures

Before 'Sent from iPhone', we had different signatures. When we first added signatures to our text messages, people thought it was part of the text message meanwhile it wasn't. Signatures usually had '**___**' or '~___~" between the names. Your name also had a combination of letters that were capitalized and lower cased.

6. Your parents not allowing you to go over your friend's house because they don't know their parents.

You may have met a lot of people in school, but that does not mean your parents have met their parents. You were not able to go over their house or anything unless their parents called your parents to confirm what you were doing. Tried to make your friend call your parents as if they were their parents? Yup, we remember those consequences very well.

7. Adding weird faces like ;) ;* -__- ._. to everything

Before Bitmojis and gifs were popular, we had a face for everything. Sometimes you made up a face but the other person did not know what it meant. Most flirting came from these emoticons, not words or actions.

8. "No I don't have a real phone but I have a texting app on my iPod touch"

Having an iPod touch was basically equivalent to having an iPhone, It was great because you can text other people as long as you were connected to Wifi.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
