There's a bunch of great things about having an older sibling, especially an older sister. She's got some special qualities. As one of the fellow family members, she loves the family, she'll agree to do certain things with you and for you, whether it's watching a movie, going out to watch the comedian, and she'll be a role model for you. She'll enjoy the fun times with you as well. You see how things should be done by the way you see her conduct herself.

1. She teases you on occasion

When she's the older sister and you are playing a game, or sitting next to each other, she'll be playful and do certain things just to get under your skin.

2. You learn to have manners

Whenever you're with her, you'll see a great way to be respectful towards others, and proper etiquette, whether it's an interview, eating dinner, or just having conversation.

3. She's your taxi driver

When you're a younger sibling who hasn't yet gotten his or her Driver's license but your older sister has, she'll be your go-to ride when you need one. Even when you need to wait for her, you can still have her to drive both of you home from school.

4. She's your personal tutor

As a student, you're going to run into some struggles, and she's been through them herself. She understands what you're going through and she'll work with you on it. You may run into each other at school and she'll be happy to answer questions you have.

5. You have a best friend to talk to

Just like the above point when dealing with struggles, she's going to be there to hear your feelings and comfort you. She'll remind you that the great things never come easy, and that when you're feeling defeated, it's because you're trying your hardest.

6. She'll teach you to be accountable

Your older sister understands what it takes to do well, especially when academics are important. She reminds you that when you're in school, you're a student first before you're anything else, even if you're a varsity athlete. She also knows that when you have to do better, she'll remind you.

7. You find a way to develop individual interests

Even when your older sister is there for you, she won't be there for you to just cling to. She has her own interests, whether it's playing a video game in her down time, or if she likes to go shopping, and she also has her own friends to spend time with too. When she's not always around to be a resource for you, you'll find how great it is to be able to enjoy things on your own.

8. You get free meals when you visit her at college

From time to time, you'll get to visit your older sister when she's at college and you're still working your way there. You'll see what her life is like when she's at college, what her dorm room is like, and perhaps get to meet her roommate. But most importantly, you'll get free food since she'll use her guest swipes on your behalf. Even if the residence hall food isn't the best to offer on campus, you're still going to be treated to some food at no cost to you. There are many things that would be understood when you have an older sister, but these are 8 of them. Comment with other things that you think would fit the bill.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
