8 Things To Remind Yourself At This Point In The Semester

Every college student can agree that being halfway through the semester is both a blessing and a nightmare. It's officially that point in the semester when there's so much to do in so little time. Professors are cramming in assignments, everyone has three or more papers to write, and some of us are just starting midterms. If you're currently feeling the wrath of mid- semester, here are some important things to keep in mind:

1. You're not alone.

Don't ever think you're the only one feeling extremely overwhelmed. You're not alone! Every college student feels overwhelmed and stressed out at some point in the semester. On the bright side, you'll always have someone to relate to! No, really... Just ask around on campus.

2. Avoid procrastination.

Even though it's really hard not to procrastinate, you'll thank yourself later for staying on top of things. No one can handle writing four papers in one night. Try to always plan some time to do each assignment instead of trying to do them all at once. Netflix binging can wait!

3. You're only one person.

Sometimes it's hard to accept the fact that you're only one person. When things get too frantic, it's best to prioritize your responsibilities. No one can be in two places at once. If you can't handle everything that's on your plate, there's no shame in admitting it! We're only human! Create a schedule that works for you.

4. You still deserve a social life.

Yes, school is important, but you can't function with all work and no play. You're still young and deserve to spend time with your friends! Barricading yourself indoors with just your books is only going to make you go stir crazy. Always remember to take a study break and enjoy yourself.

5. You're not unintelligent.

Let's face it, college is hard and everyone knows it. Students tend to lose confidence in themselves at this point in the semester. Just remember that your intelligence is what got you into college in the first place! You're capable of doing anything you set your mind to.

6. Your health comes first.

My grandfather always told me that my health should come before anything else. You only have one body, so take care of it. Don't let school work distract you from any type of illness that pops up. Take time off from studying to do whatever you need to do in order to feel better. Take care of yourself!

7. Stressing out doesn't help.

Even though it's difficult to stay calm when feeling overwhelmed, it's extremely important that you do. Letting stress consume you will only make situations worse. Try taking a little time to do the things that you find relaxing. It's always easier to get work done with a clear mind.

8. You'll get through it!

This semester will be over before you know it. Everyone is pretty much halfway there! In just a little over a month, we'll all be able to binge watch Christmas movies!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
