8 Things Seniors Think They Can Get Away With

As a college Senior, I can confirm 8 out of 8 of these.

The last year of everything is always the best. During the last year of high school you could attend prom, almost everyone had a license, you could get a job, and you were looking at colleges. What can be better than that? Well, so far, being a college senior is pretty rad.

1. Going to Class in PJ's

First, everyone has worn their PJ's to class. However, Seniors are almost expecting to wear their PJ's to class. You've put up with changing out of your comfy clothes and rolling to class for three years. You deserve some comfy PJ time whenever you want it.

2. Day Drinking

We all know it happens. Your first class got cancelled and your professor for your second class is sick. Which means no class for you. Yay!! A normal student may take a nap, wake up, and start on their homework early. A typical Senior will take a nap, wake up, and open the bottle of wine they keep next to their pillow. Hey, you never know when you may need that!

3. The Best Seats

By now, every senior has a feel for the professors on campus. That includes knowing the best place to sit.

4. Senioritis

Many things fall under this category, but the easiest way to describe it is a senior who does not think that they need to try as hard as they did the past few years because they are only months away from graduating. However, we must remind ourselves that graduation can and will be taken away from us if we fall into the black hole of senioritis too far.

5. Putting Things Off

Some of you may say, "That is the same thing as Senioritis." I am here to inform you that you are wrong. To put something off is to understand that you have a deadline approaching and artistically push your deadline to a date further in the future. Trust me, I am an expert.

6. Partying All The Time

Why? Because it is Senior Year. That's why.

7. Taking More Naps Than Needed

Between all the partying and studying, Seniors get very tired. The best remedy is to nap. Usually during every break longer than 15 minutes. This behavior also causes Seniors to stay up all night. But, they can and will nap tomorrow.

8. Cramming All Homework in on Sunday

Weekends (Friday, Saturday, and occasionally Thursday) are for friends. Sundays are for panicking and rushing through all your homework in less than 24 hours.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
