8 Things You Probably Forgot To Thank Your Best Friend For

You're more important than the brownies you bake me.

I never in my life thought I would meet someone who is exactly like me, into the exact same things, and had the capability to make me a better person. Yet here I am five years later, and I'm best friends with the woman I call my platonic soulmate and sister. Over these past years there have been so many iconic memories that we've made together, and there have also been so many things that I've forgotten to thank you for.

1. You are always there for me.

If anything happens (a breakup, a bad day, etc.), you are there for me no matter what time of day it is, and you immediately provide me with brownies, my favorite movies, and a LOT of discussion over what happened.

2. You don't judge me, and you're always on my side.

Regardless of what the situtation is, or what I've done, you ALWAYS stay on my side. I know that you will forever have back even if I'm in the wrong (but you'll call me out on it later).

3. You've made me a better person.

You have changed my views on so many things, and you've opened my mind to so many different perspectives. You're constantly there to remind me that I shouldn't judge other people, and I should do my best to put good things into the world.

4. You're always down to do crazy stuff.

Remember that time we ate pizza off of a fishing rod? Or when we took a shower in the rain? We've done all kinds of fun things together ranging from driving to the beach just for a day to warming up cookies and bread with your car heater because we were so poor. All of my favorite memories have been made with you.

5. Your talents make up for the lack of mine.

(And you're niceenough to reassure me that I actually do have talents.) You are truly the most talented person I have ever met. You are SO good at everything. I'm honestly so proud of the person you've become and everything you've accomplished over the years.

6. We don't have any secrets.

We've kept our fair share of secrets over the years, but we've reached the ultimate peak in our friendship where we've told each other EVERYTHING.

7. You're my family.

You're my best friend all the time, but you make sure to give me sisterly advice even when I don't want to hear it. You're always the first one I tell whenever something great (or awful) happens, and you're always the first one I invite to any event. You're the closest family member I have, and your family will always be my family.

8. Our friendship will actually last forever.

There is no doubt in my mind that we will always be in one another's lives. You are the only constant in my life and the only thing I'm sure will always be around. If our matching tattoos don't prove that to be true, then I'm not sure what will. You're my lobster, the Monica to my Rachel, my soulmate. We're friends 'til the end fo sho.

I may not always thank you for everything you do, but hopefully this article covers everything you've done for me over the years.

P.S. I'm thinking of the name Penelope.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
