There are two types of people in this world: those who are morning people, and those who are not. I, for one, am definitely a part of the latter. If I could stay in bed until noon every single day, I would. But unfortunately, the sound of my alarm greets me every morning. I am not the only person who despises mornings, and there are some common experiences we all share:
1. Here is a live image of you when the alarm goes off in the morning.
It does not matter what awaits you outside of the confines of your bed. If you can ignore the world for just a little while longer, you will. And of course, you have five more alarms pre-set to try and get yourself up and out of bed. The alarm will annoy you just as much every time.
2. The sleep hangover is too real.
Even on nights that you decided to stay in and do nothing except watch Netflix, it feels as if it's almost impossible to feel well-rested in the morning. We all know the symptoms of the infamous sleep hangover: headache, unwillingness to move, and cursing whatever obligations have forced you to wake up at such a godforsaken hour.
3. You’ve never resonated more with a quote in your life.
Yes, this about sums it up. Those who spend more effort on figuring out how to maximize their sleep instead of using that effort to wake up when needed is something that we all have in common. We will never blame ourselves for this, though. It will always be for some other reason that is outside of our control ... yeah, let’s go with that.
4. Morning classes are your worst nightmare.
No matter how hard you try, attending any class that starts before noon will have you struggling to keep your eyes open. There are very few things worse than trying to fight falling asleep when you are sitting through that required course that is only offered at 8 a.m.
5. You wonder what is wrong with people who are fully productive in the morning.
Okay, what? You are telling me that you enjoy these hours of the morning during which no person in their right mind should voluntarily be up and functioning? Yeah, right. Someone must have paid you off to say that. When it comes to trying to understand why anyone would enjoy being awake early, the confusion is too real.
6. Nap time is your favorite time of the day.
Little details like where and when are irrelevant. If there is an opportunity to take a nap, you will take that in stride. Very few things in life are as great as finding out you have some extra time on your hands. What better way to spend that time than to take part in your favorite activity?
7. Everyone loves breakfast food, but hates waking up at breakfast time.
Is waking up in time to have a bowl of cereal or a few eggs really worth it in the long run? You’ll choose the extra sleep almost every time, even though your grumbling stomach will remind you of your poor choices. This is why brunch is the best meal: all the glory of breakfast food, while sacrificing minimal sleep to make it on time.
8. There is one thing, though, that is foolproof when it comes to getting you out of bed: coffee.
Coffee is practically hypnotic. All of us who cannot get out of bed to save their lives in the morning depend on this brew. Without it, functioning would be impossible. Who says that magic beans only exist in fairy tales?
Sleep is one of the most beautiful things we get to experience in this life, but we rarely get enough of it. Or, at least what we think is enough of it. Luckily, there are a few thing that all of us can all come together behind: the desire for more sleep and coffee.
