8 Things I Miss About College
Huffington Post

I know you're probably thinking "How could you even think about college during summer break?" Well, I have had enough of Jersey and realized why I truly couldn't wait to leave home. It's too quiet and everything closes early. I have to always ask to go out somewhere and be home by a decent hour. Now, anyone who knows me knows I'm a night owl and I am always looking forward to a good night adventure and pulling all-nighters. In college I could do all of that since I do go to school in New York City which is the city that never sleeps. Here are 8 things that I miss about college!

#1 Meeting New People

Although I love my old friends to death and I wouldn't trade them for the world, but I love meeting someone new and exciting. Being in NYC it's a given that you make a friend with a total stranger on a daily basis. I meet someone new everywhere! On the train, the international students at my school at parties, and even walking down the street.

#2 Free Food

There are always these little activities to do around the dorm and a lot of the times, there's free food involved which is so down my alley.

#3 Occasional Cancelled Classes

That's pretty self explanatory.

#4 Student Discount

Being a college student really does has its perks. That student discount definitely comes in handy when I wanna buy that fly ass $80 jacket off of ASOS but end up paying around $60 for it. Also going to museums around the city for free is also really nice. My favorite discount is the one for food of course!

#5 No Dress Code

The best thing about college is the fact that you can wear whatever you want and no one complains about it. It's also great that I go to fashion school because you can dress to the 9's and it's totally cool and normal.

#6 Naps

The second I come home from class, I don't even take my clothes off. I just jump straight in bed and take a nice long nap and end up pulling an all nighter because I've now slept the whole evening away.

#7 Adventures

One thing I truly miss about college is the adventures I would go on late at night around the city with my friends. I never feel more free or alive than exploring the city and getting into some late night shenanigans around NYC. I remember walking all the way through soho to W 57th street then through central park all the way to E 97th street at 4 in the morning. That was one of the longest walks I've ever been on but it was an experience of a lifetime.

#8 New York City

Of course last but not least is NYC! I miss the bright lights and busy streets. I miss soho and the luxurious Upper East Side! I miss it all and I can't wait for another exciting year!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
